John (hckynut) suggested that I ask here too, so if anyone would like to suggest the Protein bars they choose, &/or like, I'd appreciate it. I'm using Atkins low carb ones now, since I am wanting sugar free too. So if you'd like to mention your choices it would be appreciated. Thanks. Thanks John.

Do you definitely need bars or could you use a powder?
A lot of the bars are high in sugar. The Pure Protein bars are pretty good.

Pure Protein bars are pretty good regarding the amount of protein, carbs, calories, and most of them are gluten free. Unfortunately, they're sweetened with sucralose.

Detour chocolatre chip caramel protein bars are very good- 20g protein, 5g fat and 4g sugar,. Also 6g of fiber! I bought a box in Ollies, sliced them in thirds and kept them in the freezer for when I wanted something yummy tasting. That turned out to be too regular a doing so I didn't buy them again!

I like Quest bars. Low in sugar and high in nutrients they are very filling...

I like Quest bars, too, as long as they're the ones sweetened with stevia.
IMO Kind bars are not a good choice for a protein bar. The ones with the highest amount of protein have only 8 grams.

Due to renal disease, I have to consume large amounts of protein, and my reanl dietitian has encouraged the use of protein bars and powders.
Of the bars, Quest bars are good (although I have to stay away form some due to phosphorous and potassium contents) as are some Balance bars. Additionally, a good brand I found recently is NuGo; I am particularly fond of the peanut butter and the vanilla yogurt bars.
As far as protein powders go, if you want to looks at those, my dietitian reccomends Tera's Whey. I have used the vanilla, chocolate, and plain flavors, and I am quite pleased. They blend easily, are not gritty, and they are sweetened with Stevia.

My Dad was instructed to have a low protein diet due to his renal disease- did you talk wth your nephrologist?
