@tansy  The only reason I agree to the Wellness exam (where the dr. no longer touches you) is I'm afraid if I refuse, I'll be dropped as a patient.  It could happen.

That is the appointment any labs or testing is ordered though.  So they sort of have most of us penned in for them.

My labs are ordered when I go in for a regular visit.  I do not want to draw a clock or spell word backwards. If you have concerns that are not part of the wellness exam, you are told you need to schedule an appointment, at least that was my experience.  My PCP is fine with me refusing it.

Wow.  I have regular Medicare and Blue Cross Medex Bronze supplemental.  Separate Part D.  Medicare requires an annual "Wellness visit" with my physician.  I go to the office just like a regular appointment.  The first time the doctor asked me things like "Do you feel safe at home?" or "Can you dress yourself?"  I was kind of taken aback.  I do not talk to lamp posts and pick out and put on all my own clothing.

Hearing about all the difficulties a lot of you are having with your plans has given me a new appreciation for the man who skillfully explained the pros and cons of supplemental

insurance plans that may save me money but give a lot more aggravation.

Just this past benefit period I had possible medical costs that I could have been billed for nearing the $4000.00 mark.  BCBS covered it ALL.  This has been the case a few times.

I think that deciding to invest in my healthcare was one of the very best choices I ever made.

If I am ever out of a prescription and it needs an authorization from my doctor before it can be refilled my CVS gives me a few pills to tide me over until the Dr. sends in the authorization.

I have a few problems here on earth, but thank God that my health coverage isn't one of them.

I have Aetna Medicare PPO which is a Medicare Advantage Plan.  I see my PCP every 6 months - once for annual exam and once for the wellness visit.  I'm not charged for either.  I go along with the wellness visit - it's not a big deal.  I like my PCP and I go along with things because they're very good about prescriptions and anything else I need.  I have always refused the home visit exams.

I use CVS for prescriptions and find them great too.

Re: Stupid New Insurance Wellness BS

DH says he never gets those calls.  The only ones he remembers he says always came around open enrollement period.  He is not on an Advantage plan, but has part F.  He also hasn't been to a doctor since at least before the pandemic.  I wish he would get a good physical every once in awhile, but he just brushes me off with "Yeah, you're right" and then ignores it.

I'm not on Medicare yet.  I kinda dread it, but surely it will at least be less expensive thant the NObama care plan I'm on now which costs me over $1K/month and has a $7000 deductible.  Who can afford to go to the Dr. after that?  But I do go in for an annual physical and then the secretary says "See you next year" since she knows I never get sick.  I do have maintenance prescriptions, but those get called in and I don't need extra visits between my Annuals.

Medicare DOES NOT require that you participate in that free annual wellness visit.  It's a suggestion.  A lot of people feel it's an intrusive waste of time.

If you have traditional Medicare and a supplement you are not even required to have a PCP.  You do not need a referral to see a specialist.

This year I am going to tell them I just want a yearly physical....NO "wellness checkup" BS.  Will not do the dumb worthless tests they made up...just want a HANDS ON PHYSICAL EXAM with blood work.

My insurance through work had the wellness plan and they got rid of it during the worst of Covid when all the doctors kept putting off appointments and nobody could get all their procedures completed in time.

I wish we had it back! DH and I would rather jump through all the hoops again.  I always got my co-pays reimbursed for preventive and wellness-mandated appointments, and for completing our incentives on time my premiums were discounted.

Once the program went away and we went to a MultiPlan provider, my premiums went up and my list of participating providers went down. Smiley Sad Way down, lots of doctors here are flat out refusing to see people who work at my company.

I'd rather go to some appointments and meet with a nurse for biometric screening once a  year, and have the good insurance back. I especially wish my husband still had to go to some of those appointments and have the panel of tests done because he's not having his health monitored as well as he was when I had the wellness program.

@homedecor1  There is a large hospital network and my plan is through them. Their main campus is in central PA and it is massive.

When DH was sick I think we traveled to 5 of their different hospitals/facilities.

There are two large hospital systems in PA One is UPMC, I have the other one.

@sann  I called CVS.  Was on the phone for 12 minutes never got a human.

I got music, Covid booster info, flu shot info blah blah. No one at thr pharmacy answered.

This is not rocker science.  Getting 7 lousy pills to tide me over should not be difficult.

I always contact SilverScript first then they give CVS the ok to issue the medication....sometimes it's best to speak with your pharmacist face to face .....They have always been very helpful anytime I've asked....
