Stem Cell / Platelet shot

[ Edited ]

Hi,  Today I had my 1st of 3 series of shots.

I'm correcting my previous post.  My 1st two series, are actually plateletes -

because they are taken from me.

My last is stem cell - not from me.

Anyone thinking of going through this - it wasn't bad at all.

Checked in early (surgical center).  A fair amount of blood drawn, thou not as much as when you donate.

It was taken away, and spun so much, the red was gone.

I was wheeled into the o/r.   My doc gave me a topical pain killer, then proceeded with 2 injections into my Achilles tendon.

Minimal pain.

I've got to say, I had awesome nurses.

Will find out in a couple of weeks if it helped.

Go back in 2 weeks, then another - 2 weeks later.

@shoppersince1989

I had this done last summer for a torn ligament in my foot. (initially thought to be plantar fascitis)  Almost immediately my pain lessened.  By fall I was walking normally without pain for the first time since 12/16.

I hope your results are as positive as mine.

@shoppersince1989. That's quite an elaborate procedure.  Just hope when you're finished, it'll all be worthwhile.

Re: Stem Cell / Platelet shot

I'm pretty sure I've had that done.  I had it injected into my spine.  Didn't do anything.

You name it, I've had it done to my spine.  I've been dealing with this severe pain since 2003.

Everything except an operation.  My Drs have said an operation won't help.

Hope you have better luck than I did.

Re: Stem Cell / Platelet shot

Thanks everyone.

I was told that it had to be done in a surgical center, so that the insurance would pick up most of the cost.

$1,000 + per session.

I'm thinking positive, don't want to be in a boot for a year.

I'll try anything to be able to walk again.
