@hckynut(John) yes I agree with you about optimism being our best friend. My life has been plagued with an illness when I was younger that ravaged my youth. Finally in my late 30's I finally got relief and was living a normal life for once in over twenty years. A few short years later I was diagnosed with a chronic auto immune. I was back down. I sat here a long time and said "oh no I can't let this happen" I dusted off my 1 lb weights and started there. Over the next several years I tweeked and added different exercises to my routine. I felt wonderful, mind , body and soul.
then Bam, I threw myself into caregiving for an ailing parent and lost myself. This drained me not only emotionally but physically.
Thank you for taking the time to post I so enjoyed reading "your story" and you are an inspiration for sure

@ANewHue   I knew you are my sister....the care taking does take its toll.  We are care givers and now we are going to give ourselves the love and care that we have given others.  We neglect our own trials to be strong for others...but we are going to be strong for ourselves and regain our health....one foot in front of the other.  I'm standing right beside you and taking your hand with me slowly but surely up this mountain.

Thanks @phoenizbrd Yes we are!!! I haven't started yet but plan to start slowly this weekend. I'm a little emotionally beat up from all this as well because the person is so ungrateful. Not only was my lifestyle on hold but I put off having a prodcedure I really need. Some can live to be 100 and lead wonderful meaning lives ....others can be the exact opposite. Your best is never good enough they want to pull you down with them. I'm over it. Once again my efforts have failed. I don't know what this person thinks she's going to achieve but she has done it nit only to me but the small group that has been there for her. Exercise is the best way of releasing stress and I have a lot of that pent up. Let's do this gf!!!

@phoenixbird @Drythe just wanted to update you guys today I made the leap back. It was not as bad as I imagined. An hour and a half on upper body. I keep this up 3x a week and my arms will be back in no time. Hope you are all doing well.😊💕

Just take it slow and don't push yourself, if you don't get back to where you were before physcially, you may have to accept that. I know I have chronic illness that started 3 years ago and it's been hard to get back to the level of exercise I did before my heart condition. Good luck.

@ANewHue @Drythe , good for both of you.  I am sure if you increase your activity slowly and steadily, you will be there before you know it.  Success begets success.  I am my best self when I stick with an exercise program.  I wish you both every success.  One step at a time ladies.  I am in your cheering section!  LM

I exercised for many years until I had a hysterectomy a couple of years ago and sort of just stopped for a year since I had worried off some weight and felt thin,  Then the weight started to creep up and so did my blood pressure, so started walking again and glad I did.  You have to do what you like really, do you like walking, the gym, or yoga, bike riding, etc.  And do it for your mental well being and your heart.  You know for some reason I don't lose weight from exercising but it sure makes me feel better and less anxious.  Start slow, like a 10 minute walk, then add to it, you will find your rhythm in no time.  Also if you like walking try listening to happy music , it will put a smile on your face.
