I contacted my Nurse practioner because I was almost out of my insulin. Its been 2 weeks! Its the weekend now...soI had to send an email to the NP letting her know...I only have a few days left! I can't tell you how upsetting this is...this will be a long weekend! I wrote a note to the business manager...don't know what else to do. They don't open until Monday~Woman Frustrated

@emmygrace , if you can do telemedicine they can give you something to tide you over. Most Type2 diabetics  can

cut their carbs down to near 0 and that will substantially lower their blood sugar. Also an emergi-med can give you a prescription.

Don't wait until Monday. The pharmacist is also perhaps able to help.

In the future make sure you have a lot of backup. I try and have 4 months of both basal and mealtime insulin in reserve.

My order contains 6 pens....my son told me to order sooner...I lost a pen once..TRUE,  never did find it, and Walmart gave me one for free! Woman Happy

I would call the pharmacy and ask them for an advance on one pen. I've had them give me a few pills of something I ran out of and couldn't get filled immediately.

In my area, ALL doctors offices and local clinics have someone on call for that practice EVERY day after 5 p.m., and EVERY weekend. When i was a switchboard operator, each office submits a monthly call sheet to the hospital switchboard, so the operator knows who is on call and who to contact when patients call needing to speak to their provider. Several other providers used an answering service, and a couple of other doctors had after hours contact info on their office lines for after hour needs.

A medical provider MUST have a way to be contacted outside the office, and pharmacists usually know how to reach providers to assist their patrons with prescription needs.

It was wise to start your inquiry 2 weeks ago, but I would have stayed on it with a call every other day and not let that much time pass without getting the insulin.

How high is your blood sugar 2 hours after eating @emmygrace ? Did you take the Solostar yesterday evening?

Yes, I took 16 units of the Solostar last night...this morning it was 160! Yesterday it was 136..before that it was 112....! I'm sure its from stress...when I call Monday..if she tells me she still doesn't have my script...I'll ask her to call their pharmacy. I've never had to wait this long~Remember...she orders it from Georgia...they never charge me. I also think I'll hear from her boss, since I left a message w/her yesterday! Thanks for all of your support...!  Heart
