....Not severe enough for surgery, but so painful.

It's pretty limiting. and keeps me awake some nights.

Any suggestions from my fellow forum peeps?

Re: Small rotator cuff tear...

I had a torn rotator cuff about 10 years ago ... The pain was

unbelievable .. and I have a high pain tolerance ... It was like

a throbbing tooth ache .... sometimes I would just stand and

cry ... funny thing is the pain was not in my shoulder but in

my bicep muscle ....It really was slightly painful on and off

for about 6 years ... but I had surgery and now I have no

trouble with it at all .....amazing ....

A good friend had this .....  she was helped by topical applications of lidocaine and arnica.  I suggest the roll on version to avoid waste.  Try SalonPas roll on gel with lidocaine .... and see what they also have in roll on arnica products.  Be patient; it will take a while to go away.

Re: Small rotator cuff tear...

For healing it, google about the benefits of bromelain capsules, they're natural from pineapple. My DH has used it for severe tennis 🎾 elbow and me for the same as you, a shoulder tear.
Start with a high dose, 2-3 x per day, but it only works for this if taken on an empty stomach. Feel better soon.

Re: Small rotator cuff tear...

I would try a heated shoulder wrap .

Also the patches with lidocaine work well , when placed on the painful area .

Hot baths up to your neck .

Get well soon

Re: Small rotator cuff tear...

If it keeps you up at night, I don't understand why the docs aren't performing surgery. As far as I know, based on my own surgeons, the tear will not heal itself and may only get worse. I've had 3 r cuff surgeries (2 on left, one on right) and now I'm at the point where they recommend total shoulder replacement for left shoulder. Ugh.

As for the pain, I didn't find any over the counter medication that helped w/ pain. I did do some accupuncture and found a comfortable position to sleep until I had surgery. Good luck to you.
