Many doctors continue to leave the profession due to excessive medical regulations. Oh, the stories I could tell with two drs in our family!

I also have two Doctors in my family.

Oh, there are many stories. No wonder they both retired early.

In Florida where I live, they are constantly building medical centers, emergency care, professional offices etc. but no new doctors.   It is like they are just spreading the ones they have around and adding PAs or NPs.

Yep, that is certainly true in the Tampa Bay area where we've lived for years.  Poor communication between specialists too. Medical info is not shared among Baycare docs and non-Baycare docs, left hand does not know what right hand is doing. Many of the hospitals are just fair at best.  We have just moved back home to Ohio where we are beginning all over again with Cleveland Clinic. The difference in care between the two health systems is amazing.

That is exactly what they are doing. They can't print out doctors.  We have a limited number of medical schools and fewer people want to become doctors the education is grueling and long and incredibly expensive and there is no guarantee that a med school graduate will get a residency in a high paying field.  We need Healthcare so it has to be PA'S and NP's.  And many people prefer them.

Besides the shortage of doctors, sometimes they have to split their time between multiple locations, my cardiologist is at one location 3 days a week, 2 other locations 1 day a week for each one. As a result of this, it takes MONTHS to get an appointment with him. I'm supposed to see him in 6 months, couldn't get an appointment before 8 months. Good thing I don't have any serious cardiac issues, I could drop dead waiting to see him!!!!
