Wow friends, I had a Dr appointment Friday.Of course nurse had to weigh me,and I always say "I DONT WANT TO KNOW" So as my DR.is checking my meds, she tells me I am up 5 lbs from 6 mo ago.My day went from 10 to 1.Very depressing to hear.I am blaming my fracture of the wrist for this.I barely moved, watched TV and ate what I wanted. Its no wonder. When I was younger,I could take off weight no problem. Now,not so easy.I am going to try my best to stay away from fried foods, drive thru s and cut back on bread.Whats left?I guess everything in moderation.
Everyone have a great work week!

I feel your pain. I made it through Thanksgiving and Christmas with no weight gain, and kept up with my exercise and proper eating.
Then came January.......the bitter cold, ice, snow etc. I made some poor choices in eating and I am up 3 or 4 lbs too. I am working on getting back to my better choices and back to my indoor track for walking. Hope those lbs. go away soon!

Perhaps its good that she told you because its only five pounds and you can lose five pounds easily, even without increasing your activity. You probably should have addressed this with your doctor. But no fast-food, no fried food, no white rice. Whole grain btead. Don't stress yourself out with time limits. A few changes and it will happen.

5 lb is my normal range on any given day.
6 months ago, you might've been wearing lighter clothing, unless you get undressed to weigh at your doctor's.
I was actually 7 lb heavier last week at my Physical than I was 2 weeks before when they took my bloodwork. But, that's because I was only wearing my pants and a paper top when I was weighed for my bloodwork. I was fully dressed, including shoes when I was weighed 2 weeks later.

My provider seems clueless about the scale number being related to how I'm dressed for the season.
In the summer I'm wearing lightweight twill pants, a t-shirt, and sandals I take off before stepping on the scale. Fall and winter I'm in jeans, long sleeve shirt, socks and tennis shoes or boots that I do not take off before weighing. It makes a difference in the number!

@Luvsmyfam What's left is good veggies, fruits, lean meat, whole grains, etc. Things that your body needs. It is not about what you don't eat. It is about what you DO eat.

@RedTop I didn't realize I was going to be weighed at both appointments or I would've worn my fur-lined clogs that I could just kick off. The difference this time was the machine they took my weight on during my bloodwork measured my muscle content along with fat content. So, at least that is what the doctor honed in on during our chat.
He was surprised by how much of my weight was muscle. I wasn't. I've always said I was deceptively dense. But, of course he had to talk about the %fat and losing some of that. I really wanted to pull my 2 tops off and show him my stomach when he started talking about belly fat. Most of my fat is in my rear and legs I think. I wish there was some way to just lose the leg fat.

I think the 5 pound increase is less distressing than the fact that you don't want to know. As we age it's important to carefully monitor all our stats. Keeping your head in the sand is not good.
It's MUCH easier to lose 5 pounds than 50.
Go a little more low carb and be conscientious about it.

"5 pounds" is when my alarm goes off telling me to watch it. I'm a very small-framed person and any small weight gain is not good for me so I try not to over-eat or eat fattening foods until I get back to my normal weight. It's not hard to do but when you have friends taking you out to eat and cooking for you, that's what's difficult to refuse! ![]()
