@Nightowlz If you feel that your doctor won't help maybe it's time to try someone new. I finally switched doctors and my new MD is great! He's very compassionate and thorough.
If you still don't want to go to a doctor then look up to see what natural or over the counter products you can use to help alleviate any pain. Mercola dot com has several articles on Shingles and what helps...comments on the bottom of the article also has several helpful suggestions.

Why do people come on this forum and ask for medical advice from non medical personnel? If you think that you have shingles go to a Dr. ASAP. If anyone out there has had the chicken pox and you are over 50 you need the new Shingrix vaccine. I have seen singles up close and personal and it was not one scab it was a line of sores that followed the path of the nerve. It is very painful and is not to be taken lightly. If it is on the face it can settle in the eye and destroy the cornea. My advice is to seek medical help ASAP rather than coming here and asking for help.

Thanks for reminding me that I have to get the new Shingles vaccine. I had the older version about 8 years ago. I don't know what doctors you saw but there are medications they prescribe to help with the pain, which is nerve pain and there are other things you can do to lessen the pain. However, it sounds like you want to suffer with it. Good luck with that.
Always a ray of sunshine.

I've had shingles. I know how it is. There is no reason in the world anyone has to suffer with shingles nowadays. Get inoculated!!

@Nightowlz You should go to the doctor, they can put you on an antiviral. A person cannot "catch" the shingles but if the exudated from the blisters comes in contact with a pregnant woman or someone who has not had chickenpox , that person can get chickenpox which is not good.
