DO NOT recycle your Sharps container. You tape up the top and dispose of them in the regular trash. Dirty syringes and hazardous waste is not to be recycled. A simple google search gives this information for NYS.

Here is what to do according to your state.

This site contains a map. Click on your state to find out how to dispose of a sharps container. Easy peasy.

Our local pharmacy will dispose of these. Just ask.

I can not believe that the phar. said to throw it out. Did you ask the pharmacist or a clerk? Our friend the pharm. said disposing of these containers is serious business.

In my state sharps containers go in the regular trash. The pharmacies here don't take them. @Group 5 minus 1

Some other states might be different. Check the FDA site where they provide a site with info according to your state.

Our State Department of Health has specific instructions on sharps disposal available to all residents.  They also provide stickers for the sharps container that they ask you to apply to the container before disposal.  They give you instructions about the container to use, applying the label and taping up the container prior to disposal.  It then goes in the regular trash disposal.

My doxie gets an antibiotic injection daily for her chronic bladder infection so I have a lot of needles accumulating.  Between her daily injections and the ones required to mix her antibiotic every 4 days.  I emailed for the stickers and they are sent to me.  I re-supply as needed as the state asks you to be conscious of how many stickers you request to meet your needs since they are free.

If my dog doesn't like you, neither do I.
