I hope you are getting the medical attention you need. Pain, especially sharp pain lasting for hours, is a sign of a problem.
Sometimes what we think a medical issue might be is wrong, or we rule something out that we should not. Years ago a friend had terrible abdominal pains in the center of his abdomen which progressively got worse over several days to the point that he was curled up in fetal position in his bed, unable to walk. When he finally got to the ER, it was determined that he had appendicitis. It did not present in the typical fashion, because his appendix was so swollen it had wrapped around his small intestine. His small intesting became gangrenous and a foot of it had to be surgically removed. Going to the ER saved his life.
Please take your pain seriously.

For Pete's Sake why are you asking us? This sounds like an Urgent Care visit.

it @kivah wrote:Last night, I got a sharp pain in my stomach - continued for several hours during the night. This morning, the pain started again - and it's now 6PM in Calif. I threw up several times during the day. I had breakfast this morning and didn't eat for the rest of the day.
I had diverticulitis several times in the past from eating nuts - and it feels like that. I didn't eat nuts, so I'm hoping it's just the flu.
The doctor was out today and will be this weekend --- hoping it goes away soon.
Could it be the flu???
It could be very serious. It might be signs of pancreatic cancer.
Ask your Dr. to do blood test and xray to rule that out.

I went to the ER Saturday morning, March 2nd, it was a bowel blockage. I had scar tissue from a hysterectomy in 2006 - and that's the reason it formed. The doctors were able to relieve the problem with that tube in ur nose/throat - over 5 nights. Today I'm much improved. Thanks for all the Caring and Good Thoughts!!!!!![]()

Feeling GREAT today. Just a little tired but that's expected. I'm hoping to start cleaning my house tomorrow --- then I'll know I'm fully recovered.

@kivah I had surgery about twelve years ago, at which time I was told that once in there, the doctor found a lot of scar tissue attached to the intestines from a surgery thirty years prior, so she cut it out as much as she could, and I was amazed to learn that scar tissue grew. I suppose at some point, I could have had the same situation as you if that hadn't been removed. Glad you are on the mend.
