On 3/5/2014 Deadeye Daisy said:If your doctor put you on any cholesterol lowering medications, he/she should have also advised you to take at least 100mg of water soluble CoQ10 twice a day. If he/she didn't, you might consider changing your healthcare provider. Fast.
The CoQ10 you take must be a quickly absorbed type, preferable both fat and water soluble.
Don't look for the cheapest ones. Get one that WORKS!
Best is Qunol Mega CoQ10 or Qunol liquid. Other types aren't absorbed as readily, and are a waste of money. Remember, when you take cholesterol lowering medications, you deplete your body's levels of CoQ10. This can cause severe muscle cramping in the legs and feet.
Thank you for your response Daisy, but I am not on any cholesterol meds. I re-read my post just to make sure I didn't indicate that which I might well have done, but didn't see where I had. I just said that those levels were fine.
Hopefully tomorrow I will hear from my labs and maybe have some sort of answer. If not, I will be seeing my neurologist next week and will bring it up then.
Ooops, edited my reply. I think you were just giving advice "in case I had been put on those med". Sorry Daisy, it's been a long day.

Lots of interesting posts here! Thank you all for sharing! A few years ago I used to have horrible leg cramps that caused me to literaly JUMP out of bed to try to stretch out the cramp! It rarely happens anymore, thankfully! It was inevitable I would have an "episode" on a night I would wear high heels for several hours.
My vitamin D levels are usually pretty low. I take 5000 IU's a day but I've just bumped it up to 10,000 for a couple of weeks per my doctor's suggestion.
For tingling (neuralgia) in the extremeties it was recommended (by a doctor - for those of you who think that matters) to take some ALA (alpha lipoic acid) and after a bottle of that it really helped! so please research that option!
My nightly gin & tonics (with quinine) might be the reason I no longer have these awful leg cramps! ![]()

I have them when I travel and some times at home. Bananas for sure and whatever your doctor tells you. I take a low dose of valium because they became more frequent.
An old wives tale says put a bar of soap under your sheet. I did it, and still do. I have rarely had any cramps since then. I do not know, what to attribute it too but the bar of soap is not hurting anything so it will stay.
They are horribly painful. I hope you find something that works.
