There are so many ingredients in sunscreen that are dangerous, amoung them oxybenzone that has reported as dangerous for years but still in many sunscreens.

There are so many ingredients in our food and beauty items that are harmful and have been banned in Europe. So do a search of ingredients-carragean, oleoresin,, so many that should not still be in the things we use and eat every day.

I'm not surprised by one more chemical that should not have been

passed as "safe" in something we use on ourselves or children every day.

I still think that sunscreens (especially for those that slather it on several times daily even when exposure to sun is nearly nonexistant for many) are more dangerous to our bodies especially if we are not out constantly from noon to 2:00 pm.

Avobenzone is in almost all sunscreens and breaks me out in large red bumps on my face.  SO that's out for me.

Independent testing labs are paid to produce data which supports cause and effect. Much of the data is used to launch new and "safer" products. I'm leery of this kind of testing. It often has ulterior motives.

I've known about that for years, @Mindy D , and that is why I do not purchase it for my family.  We use natural skin protectants without toxic benzene, or benzene derivatives, and wear sunhats, and sun protective clothing and swimwear.

This does bear repeating, though, of course, as many people do not know about it.  Not everyone listens to the same news reports, or reads the same articles.  It is a public service to make these announcements, so thank you.

When bottled water first became popular, there was a brand from France in a pink labeled bottle. Maybe Evian?  Faux snob that I was, I'd pour  a cheaper brand into that pink bottle, or even tap water. Then benzene was discovered at the source of their water and that was the end of them.

That was Perrier and they are still in business selling bottled water. It was recalled back in the '90s but since have come back.
