Eat Less?

Nah, it’s all about Calorie Density.

Eat the correct foods & we don’t have to ‘eat less’ or restrict.

Exercise More?

Nah, it’s just a little movement...20-30 minutes/brisk walk.

Never depend on movement for weight loss.

I totally agree with the first one about eating - how much and what you put in your mouth.

I do not agree with 'just taking a walk' for 20-30 minutes.

Three or so weeks ago someone said something to me that absolutely got me back downstairs to the basement & 4 pieces of great equipment. It was a challange though he did not know it.

Six days a week I hit all 4 pieces to work different parts and muscles. Been tweeking my (and DH's) food intake for years and now this same person makes me/us eat even better. Along with my personal control of my hypothyroid that's easily allowed me to finally drop weight, to date a total of 17lbs since May2017. We women are always griping about that menopausal big belly that grows which WAS most of my fatness. Well guess what, my working combo of better eating, way better thyroid, working out my big belly is almost GONE!!!

So it takes more than just a 20-30 minute walk around the block. Let me also say that after I do my 30-40 minute workout, my poodle and I then walk for 30-40 minutes around the neighborhood.

It's a mind-set ladies to just put YOU first with how you treat yourself. It can be hard but it's so much more easy to say no NO to the chips and dip, NO to the pasta, bread, sweets, high fructose/sugars. You don't think so? Get out of bed tomorrow morning and just say YES to YOU and NO to the bad stuff. Do this for YOU. Do this for the rest of this new January, weigh yourself today, do not weigh yourself until January 31st.

I promise you, you will be amazed at your new numbers.

I am so proud of myself, I now not only feel great (due to controlled thyroid as wght was n ot my only problem; get this quick & easy blood test done to check your thyroid, I really feel this is imperative for women), I am looking good now due to working out.

Toot your own horn at the end of this month - it WILL make you WANT to continue and do even more for who?  YOU!!!

I’ve always managed my weight through portion control & excercise.I try to eat healthy but I won’t deny myself something I want.I find if I get the craving out of the way with a small portion I can get back on track quickly.

All sounds well and good.  As a side note, I am already sick of seeing Oprah Winfrey on her weight loss commercials.  I could do without her, and Marie Osmond for that matter.

@Group 5 minus 1

That has actually been proven (scientifically) to be incorrect. But the suggestion is good for business of all sorts so it continues to be marketed as a good idea.

Drinking lots of water is another health myth. Please refer me to sites (not Dr.Oz) that make that claim about drinking water.

It's true since that's what I have been doing & it's working for me. It never worked before but does now for some reason? Another secret is get on the scale daily or at least every other day. If it shows a gain I'm watching what I'm eating until I lose it.

Many diets work, but people give up because they don't see a rapid weight loss.  Then they go back to same ole, same ole.  You have to find what works for YOU, and what you can continue with for the rest of your life.  If you have to go through several to find one you can stick with, so be it.  But key is sticking with it.

You can always start with your doctor.  Make sure you're healthy and have no underlying medical issues.

Re: Secret of wt. loss

[ Edited ]

Has anyone read the article,

The Exercise Paradox”

Scientific American, Feb 2016

Kinda throws out the ‘burning off calories with movement’ idea.

It’s behind a paywall but basically says,

we all burn the same amount of calories a day regardless

if we walk around the block or run a marathon every day.

2600/men, 1900/women.

I tagged you thinking your IDEA publications might have mentioned something about this...
