I have forgotten to add that if I take from 2 - 9 capsules of lecithin (a supplement) this also will abate a migraine for me. Lecithin is a component of the myelin sheath of nerves.

I read about this tactic in my nutritional encyclopedia many years ago...this reference book is used at Whole Foods as a reference for anyone to use.

This picture is what mine looks like. I need to get it out of the garage b/c it is all dusty (another trigger!)

My copy is one of the earliest publications. I may purchase another copy...the one pictured here certainly looks better than my bedraggled copy!

The tome is over 600 pages.

An interesting note is that females, especially, often have a grouping of maladies — migraines, fibromyalgia, CMV, lupus, eczema, chronic sinus, asthma.

So the authors, a doctor and his wife (Balch) made this observation way back in 1983. Isn’t it interesting that the medical field knew about this association then, but still have not made any progress with this association now?

I have my DH (and me too) take two (large capsules) of lecithin each night. Because when he was little, he had polio. It affected his nerves, I think, and therefore he suffers at night from RLS.

Thats interesting. My husband takes Lecitin. It seems to help with his stress. I will have to try it the next time I feel one coming on.

@sfnative Thank you for your kind words and the additional information you provided.  I'm glad to hear that @LTT1 helped you realize a trigger.  That's wonderful that you've finally had some answers after so many years.

I've certainly gotten much useful information from this thread and I sincerely appreciate all who have been so helpful.

I'm going to look into this Lecithin that @LTT1 just mentioned.

MSG warnings have been with us since the 1970s.  Nothing new here.

@LTT1, I have that book also! And, like yours, it is very beaten up.

Don't use it as much now, as I find Earth Clinic's website very helpful, but have no plans to get rid of it.

Think I purchased it from QVC, back in the 80's. Some shopping show anyway, if not them, then CVN.

Many health food stores have this book as a reference on site, available for customers to look through.  5A9CACDA-32E1-4E0A-8924-FE1770C78B15.jpeg

Re: Sea Salt, Sea Salt, Sea Salt - and Migraine

My migraines are not triggered by foods.   I used to always get the worst migraines mid cycle.  I also get them smelling gasoline and other fuel products.  I have gotten them while sitting  on the tarmac in a plane for hours with little fresh air.  I can get them while viewing bright lights or sitting under hot lights.

Cold weather causes some of the worst migraines too.  So it seems my triggers are hormones, extreme temperatures, bright lights and chemical smells.

Carageenan contains lots of free glutamate (MSG monosodium glutamate)

Have not had a chance to really process this article, bit here is the link:

Have begun eliminating carageenan from the diet, and it has helped.

@sfnative

Have you seen my latest challenge?

DHs cognition is on the decline.

Yes, it is very sad and I am broken-hearted.

I wanted you to know.
