I am scheduled to have a small bowel barium x-ray and wonder if anyone else has had one of these? I have been told that this procedure could take anywhere between 2-6 hours, depending how quickly the barium goes through your system. Those taking iron supplements (I am) will have an even longer time since iron slows your system downl. I have been told I will need to take a laxative for a few days after the procedure to make sure that the barium is eliminated as quickly as possible since it can cause severe constipation. Just another lovely procedure to look forward to
. Anyone else's feedback will be very much appreciated. Thanks!
