Sabra Hummus and me. Recall.

[ Edited ]

I just received an email from Amazon warning me that the lot of Sabra Hummus that I recently ordered is being recalled due to one tub's contamination with salmonella. The email links to the latest FDA recall. The irony is that today is the first day that  I have not checked recalls in ages. The recall is coming rather late for the item too.

@Mindy D -

I used to buy that all the time, then stopped because there have been so many recalls of it in the past few years due to Salmonella, so you can never be sure when the next batch will be recalled!😨

@on the bay @There have been many recalls of tahini used in hummus as well. I still want to eat hummus.

Re: Sabra Hummus and me. Recall.

Thanks @Mindy D      Two years ago I finished a container of Lantana hummus two days before it was recalled for listeria. No problems, thank goodness.

I used to love Sabra Hummus, the sun dried tomato and basil flavor. And of course it was discontinued a few years ago. The plain is too boring and don't care for the other flavors. I miss the one I loved!

Why are there so many frequent food recalls ? Are companies so sloppy or what is going on in the country .

I have two in the fridge right now but they are not the Classic version mentioned in the recall...I have the olive tapenade and pine nut flavors. I hope these suckers are okay. Ha! Thanks for posting.

@skatting44 Most companies are not sloppy. There are trillions of microbes on and in every single surface on earth. It's difficult to control for all of them.

Re: Sabra Hummus and me. Recall.

I just checked the Sabra Hummus I have, it is best by April 20, 2021.

The container is half empty. It was sitting in my refrigerator for almost a week before I opened it. Guess I would have noticed the hard way, if it was contaminated
