I just checked the Sabra Hummus I have, it is best by April 20, 2021.

The container is half empty. It was sitting in my refrigerator for almost a week before I opened it. Guess I would have noticed the hard way, if it was contaminated

Thanks @Mindy D

FYI.....Easy to make hummus....a couple of cans of chick peas in the blender, fresh lemon juice, garlic, a tablespoon or tahini or miso (extras: jalapeno, smoked paprika, olive oil, sun-dried tomatoes, etc).  Check out recipes on-line.....better than Sabra. I always have these ingredients on hand - healthy, tasty, and only takes a few minutes.

Been making my own hummus since hearing of  Sabra Hummus recall  several years ago . This is not this company's 1st  recall . I add cumin &  cayenne  & lemon juice & garlic & tahini & olive oil

I did. Mine is 90B21.

Sam's Club stopped carrying Sabra Hummus earlier this year. Costco dropped Hannah's Hummus and now only carries Sabra Hummus.  I preferred Hannah's.

Maybe it is time for me to start making my own.

I love hummus.  I found a delish recipe online and made it yesterday.  It was easy and so delicious.  Less expensive than buying also.

Re: Sabra Hummus and me. Recall.

I used to go to London a lot, and I always stayed in a neighborhood where the supermarket sold hummus by weight in the deli. It was 1/3 the cost I paid in the U.S. There was always a choice of plain or one flavored.

I've never seen it sold that way here.

Re: Sabra Hummus and me. Recall.

Home made is a snap and sooo tasty.  I can get a can of garbanzos for .50 and make a nice batch.  I use tons of hot sauce in mine.  Yes I use tahini, an organic store brand that is refigerated after opening.  I choose to not use oil, but add lemon juice, garlic, salt, and some of the bean juice.

Yummy on toast in the morning.

It seems to me, less time in the supply end, and made in my kitchen, since these ingredients could be volatile, makes for a fresher product.  The little Ninja Storm makes a perfect blend.

Thanks as always @Mindy D for the heads up.  I do think about it!

@drizzellla @Boars Head Hummus is also very good. One of the  issues the last two years is the tahini used by the hummus makers is from just a few shared sources and the tahini sources have had repeated recalls due to salmonella and other contantamination.

@Sweetbay magnolia @I make myy own hummus too, but I must stress that there are many brands of tahini but most of the brands are actually coming from just a few sources. The brands get their tahini from these sources made under their own labels. This has made me think that I'll skip the tahini if I make my own.
