I have a friend who thinks she may have this intestinal disorder.  Has anyone ever heard of it?  I never did till now...

I have SIBO, it stands for small intestinal bacteria overgrowth.  It can come in hydrogen or methane.  I have methane, of course, the worse of the two.  Very difficut to get rid of and can require very and I do mean VERY expensive medications.  I am currently taking herbal antimicrobials in hopes to eradicate the overgrowth and not have to do the meds but it's highly unlikely.

SIBO causes severe bloating, gas, tooting, burping, constipation with methane, diarrehea with hydrogen form.

All in all, not a fun thing to have.

An old HSN host, Shivan has SIBO and is a big advocate.

Yes, I have heard of it, and there is a very good book written about this that I found in the public library. I am unsure what the title was but I bet you could search it by the author's name (the Shivan lady) and find it. There are not many books on this subject. I don't think I have it but I do have other unknown stomach issues. She needs to research the organization for this disease and find a doctor knowledgable. Take a list of her symptoms and what helps or makes it worse to the doctor visit.

@SeaMaiden  I understood @FatCatinCT  to mean that there are Two Forms/Strains  of SIBO.  In one form, the bacteria give off a Methane byproduct of metabolisim. the other form gives off a Hydrogen byproduct.  she further goes on to give some symptoms of each form of the disease.

SIBO won't go away on it's own and needs to be treated. Changing diet and/or antibiotics are common treatment(s) for the condition. There is such a thing called a 'SIBO diet'.

Didn't realize this was a spelling test.  We all knew what she meant.

I'm more interested to know about SIBO (never heard of it before) than how to spell diarrhea. Hope I spelt it correctly.

There are so many Gastrinomical disorders that it is difficult to determine which one you have.  All of them are miserable!
