It's wonderful to get things taken care of especially when in pain.
Now, the only thing hurting will be your wallet! Either way, so worth not having the horrible discomfort of pain.

Good for you, @SeaMaiden! Next Thursday I have a procedure myself. I dread it. I need to call my sister and tell her to keep an eye on her cell phone during that afternoon in case I have complications and need to go to the hospital. I suppose that's unlikely, but she's a doctor and would be able to get me somewhere safe if need be. I don't know what to expect, but I hope by the end of that day I'll be done with at least the worst of it.

Was thinking of you today and wondering if you were able to finish up. So happy to hear your ordeal is over and you're finally out of that pain. I had some major dental work done last week, waiting for healing now and go back in 3 more weeks to get the next steps underway. All to the tune of in the neighborhood of $7000 when all is said and done of which I don't expect my dental insurance to pay much of. Thought at my age and all the dental work I already had over the years that I was done with all this baloney for the rest of my life.

Ms X, I fretted and worried and whined to anybody that would listen, just had myself in a dither for 2 weeks prior to my appointment to get started on a big job, and guess what, in the end that was a lot of wasted time and energy. I was scared about the whole thing but my first fear was the novocaine which I hadn't had in a long time and remembered it as being quite painful. I had 5 shots as he went along, (had work on both upper sides) just to make sure I stayed comfortable and I barely felt the first one at all and felt nothing during the rest of them. Either he's very good at giving them or for whatever reason they just aren't as bad as they used to be. And once he got going on the work I never felt a thing. In other words the anticipation was worse than the actual event! My point is that I suspect you will find the same, all your dread is probably going to be worse than the actual procedure.

I have had my share. Very bad heredity. However in my case over time some worked and some did not. I am now the proud owner of Implants. I could have bought a car with what I paid. I am totally finished hopefully.

Good luck to you. I have had two root canals. Today I think the procedure is not so bad as long as you have a good orthodontist. The one I went to was fairly young and he had the latest equipment, including a video you could watch during the procedure of his own fishing expedition or of the procedure itself. I sort of hesitated and he suggested the procedure. It was quite interesting as it was a close up of the tooth and I did not connect the close up to my own tooth but of a tooth in a separate video. It took my mind off of what was going on. It was the right decision.= - very interesting. I had no complications and a very clean recovery.
