Restless leg syndrome, part 2

[ Edited ]

Oh dear...I asked my doctor about this and she said it sometimes happens to people with a cronic condition, which I have. She also offered me some ways of minimizing it. Plus I wonder if my hepatitis is acting up--I'm getting some of the symptoms. It's just one  d a m n e d   thing after another.

I'm about ready to jump out of a window in a high-rise building. Not really but I feel so terrible I don't know what to do. I think I have some kind of bug and I got all of 2 hours sleep last night/this morning, plus my back is killing me.

When you're young, you wake up with an ache or a pain, you take a couple aspirin and it's soon gone.  When you get old, you awaken with the same ache or pain and its with you the rest of your life.  Then they accumulate, so after a while feeling poorly is just your normal self.

I do understand.  @GoneButNotForgotten

I know exactly how you feel.  I have been to the neurologist for cramping, needle and pain feeling, numbness in bottom of my feet.  They put me on Gabapentin 3x per day.  I only take it at night as it makes me feel kind of dizzy.  There are sleepless nights where I feel like I want to just end it.  I am so tired the next day I am miserable.

That sounds awful. Is there any way you could get a massage? Perhaps that would help....maybe a hot bath to relax and sleep?

@Kachina624    I no longer remember the ills we were crabbing about, but I remember a colleague commenting that when we're young a pain appears and we wonder WHEN it will go away, but as we age, a pain comes and we wonder IF it will!

We had to have been in our 50's --  I know she's lived through sheer h..l during the 3 decades since then.

Have you tried a magnesium cream or lotion? I find Theraworxx helps my leg cramps and takes it away. If I use it from hip to feet before bed, it removes the cramping. Sometimes I need it twice a day. I know this different from restless legs but I have read that a lack of magnesium is related to this disorder. I know you are suffering, I am so sorry. I also get restless legs on any of the sleep inducing antihistimines which are benadryl and the ones sold as sleep meds OTC. It does feel like bugs crawling inside the skin. I hope you can find something that helps you.

Sorry you're feeling so poorly. Seems like a lot of know what you're going thru. If it's not one thing, it's another. Hoping you feel better soon.

@GoneButNotForgotten   Didn't she offer you any medication like roprinirole (Requip)?  Did she offer to check your iron?  Both of those things could help you.  Did you read the RLS study that Johns Hopkins did that I told you about?

Yes, it could happen to people with a chronic condition, but there are medications that will alleviate all symptoms.  I would insist on these two things.  There's no reason for you to suffer with this.  Starting roprinirole four years ago changed my life.

You have my sympathy. I'm heading to the doctor in about ten minutes to address the same thing with the legs....along with a few other not so pleasant issues. I HATE GOING TO THE DOCTOR!!!!!!!!!!
