Re: Repeat Business Breakfast 😢

When I had my back surgery the food service brought around a cart and if you were able you could go out in the hall & pick what you wanted. They had fresh fruit every meal, that was delicious. I remember getting bagels a lot, and eating a lot of yogurt.

Re: Repeat Business Breakfast 😢

Sorry but that photo is a total fake and created for click bait.  FB and the internet are littered with them.

Hospital food is a nightmare and usually outsourced.  If you don't put your order in, you get the standard low fat, low sodium mean.  I have had family members who had surgery or procedures and were sort of out of it for a day or so and when they finally were aware enough to ask about the fact that they got the same meal 3 times, they found out that they were supposed to get a card to indicate what they wanted.

Hospital food, like school food, follows the food pyramid.  Whatever your thoughts about that are, good or bad, that's what they use.

@VaBelle35

How can it be click bait when it was shown in a closed FB group?

@sidsmom  My body becomes inflamed looking at that picture!  Clckbait or not, the unfortunate truth is many people still think dairy/meat is acceptable food.  I was watching Dr. Greger with Ryan Seacreast yesterday and even though the information was very basic, what a wonderful job (light touch) at educating those who are not aware of how to implement WFPB.  The other good news (at least moving in the right direction) is Kaiser is "encouraging" their MDs to recommend a plant based diet.  A Kaiser Diet Plan can be downloaded on the internet.  I called my local Kaiser for the "plant based classes" and none were offered unfortunately (two in northern California).  Smiley Sad

Did you get the email from Cyrus Khambatta about insulin resistance and the Keto diet discussion that is being offered this Thursday?  I signed up (free) and thought you might be interested.

@VaBelle35What struck me is that in absolutely no hospital would a Diet Coke be given to a heart patient after surgery. First of all, no one is allowed caffeine the first 24 hours. Caffeine can cause dangerous arrythmias. This was obviously a Diet Coke that was being consumed by a visitor.

The second thing is that is not butter. The sausages are probably fake turkey or vegetable sausages which are low sodium. The pancakes are probably made with almond flour and egg whites. The syrup more than likely not "real."

The patient probably ordered the meal. Any time I have had heart surgery I was given the option of almond milk with oatmeal or egg whites with gluten free toast. I stayed in one of the most famous heart hospitals in the United States. The food was excellent... Healthy and tasted good.

@phoenixbrd

I love Kaiser....they really get it.  Too bad they don’t have classes (of course, you know what to do...but it feels good to be around like-minded folks), but maybe having you ask will trigger a future need.

Cyrus!  I adore him.  No, I didn’t know about the webinar but will sign up soon.  Count me in. We know why Keto is horrible for diabetics, but will be interested to learn anything new.  He’s such a beautiful example of a T1 living the High carbohydrate, low fat lifestyle.  He did a ‘what I eat’ video...24hr period, 650 grams of carbs to 24 units of insulin...27/1 ratio. All those beautiful, juicy fruits!

@sidsmom  You get it!  Love being around like-minded...main reason for checking out the classes!  Yup, I crush on Cyrus and Robbie too....they will be informing us of the evil ways of Keto and the negative effects for diabetics.  I don't have diabetes and I'm lovin' learning.  I'm forever a student...probably the oldest graduate student at my college and I never gave it a thought....must be all the fruits and veggies!Smiley LOL

Anyone can lift a fake pic from anywhere and posted as true even a member of a private group.  This picture suits the group's purpose.  The goal of click bait pictures is to get them to shared, just like you did outside of the group and for people to start to believe they are true.

Re: Repeat Business Breakfast 😢

What I've learned after two recent admissions to Major health centers is that you get a generic meal the first meal or so, and once they have your requests you start receiving your personal order.

Oh, there was also an admission where you picked up the phone, if you were able, and ordered what you wanted.
