I was thinking of that @Q-Checker.

I know that is what people must wonder or think, even those who experience it.

But I don't think so not just based on my own experiences which were wonderful but also from what we know and also don't know about energy.

And if it is all just a placebo, bring it on! It is something you can only experience to know what it's like for you.

Reiki is similar to Healing Touch which is practiced by some nurses in clinical settings. It does promote deep relaxation.

The idea in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is that life force or Chi (Qi) flows thru the body and that force may get congested in an area of the body causing illness or feeling unwell. The practicioner then works to restore the flow.

While a practicioner's hands are usually just over the body, they should ask "is it okay if I touch you"? You can always mention that you're skittish/sensitive to touch so please ask first.

As a Reiki Master, I believe accupuncture would be more beneficial while you are dealing with pain. Reiki could be done concurrently but more as an adjunct in treatment, Hope you're not being charged too much.

Many years ago when I was under an incredible amount of stress, I had a few sessions. I had hoped it would relieve some stress and help me relax. It did nothing for me. My bff has had regular sessions for about 40 years and swears by her reiki sessions. She also gets traditional massages and credits both with helping her age as well as she has.

I do not know what Reiki is but my sister, who is has a prayer ministry, warns me that it is demonic. She says something to the effect of it is communicating with spirits, which we should never do. What exactly is Reiki?

@conlt Tell her to do research before she makes a statement like that. As far as I understand it the Reiki master uses her touch and your own body energy to heal itself

Well I agree, she does go way over the top. I don't really know what Reiki is. It is tough having a sister who is so passionate and can be forceful about her beliefs. Before my dad died, he told me she was different and that is not going to change.
