It doesn't reduce plaque but by using a prescription fluoride toothpaste, I've reduced my normal 3+ cavities a year to zero. It's called Cinpro and I use 2 $18. tubes per year. It has saved me hundreds of dollars.
Despite having optimum dental care my whole life, I've always had many cavities, an inherited condition I'm sure.

I want to THANK YOU for mentioning "INHERITED CONDITION". I have had "bad" teeth all my life...just like my PATERNAL RELATIVES, who were wearing plates since they were 30.
I have the equivalent of the price of a HOUSE in my mouth...and people keep saying, "Well if you only brushed your teeth once in a while."
I have my own dental "tools", and see a dentist and periodontist every four months. My dental "routine" has always been vigorous.
The fact that I now have a mouth full of implants is NOT MY FAULT. di

Me, too, Kachina. I was the only sibling that had that problem. We had a half brother who became a dentist and when growing up he would swear I was not brushing my teeth because I always had cavities. Guess who was his first patient. He did a pulp cap on my 12-year-old molar, right side, when I was 17. I had already lost my 6-year-molars. My mother had good teeth but daddy didn't. He had really pretty teeth but he got cavities frequently. My 3 children all were required good dental care and two had a great deal of cavities and one never has had a one and he is an adult with children.

My mouth full of implants are coming out, one x one. I have lost 3 of 8 in the last few years. I don't have good bones and my cadaver bone grafts don't seem to hold the "screws" very well. An MRI will pull them out. I need MRIs for problems I have related to MS. Every time I have one, the manager of the imaging center will say "Oh, it won't pull your implants out." No, but it loosens them because they are metal and the magnets pull the metal enough to break the screw or take it from the bone graft.
In the beginning I would have them replaced and after 3, we decided, No. I will just go with partials where I need them. No use in spending another quarter-million dollars on my mouth.

Glorimar - do you take an antihistamine?
Dry mouth causes plaque.

I had the same problem. I had to have my teeth cleaned more often than 1 time every 6 months. I had a dental hygenist recomend Xylie Mints. They have helped me so much!!! I use one tablet every night. It slowly dissolves in your mouth. I get them from Amazon. Even when if I get plaque, it comes off with a dental pick. I was never able to get it off before. I also drink a lot of water. Sometimes placque is caused by a dry mouth.

I use Earthpaste to keep my teeth clean. It has no fluoride, no glycerin. Glycerin leaves a film on the teeth which causes plaque buildup. It can inhibit the natural remineralization process.
I use Earthpaste charcoal every once in a while.
I use an electric toothbrush. I also use the interdental head to clean between each tooth.
I use Lumineux Clean & Fresh mouthwash.
I also use a scaler like @Carmie posted above.
My teeth feel as clean as they do when I have them cleaned at the dentist.

I have the same issue and had deep cleaning and now have to go 4x's a year for cleanings. My hygenist says some people just produce more and also medications can be a culprit.

I don't have any recommendations as I have the same issue. I brush and floss a lot. I can't use mouthwash which has alcohol due to dry mouth and other dental issues so don't know if a regular mouthwash with alcohol would help this or not. I asked my dental office about the plaque issue and they said some people just produce more than others.

I bought myself some plaque remover tools to use on my teeth in between cleanings. I am VERY careful using them as they are extremely sharp. I'm surprised at how much plaque I'm able to remove on my own. I do it every few days. It certainly keeps the yuckiness at bay!
