"the only products affected in Canada are from one lot of 12 ounce method gel hand wash in sweet water® fragrance and in the US, the only products affected are from two lots of 12 ounce method gel hand wash in sea minerals fragrance.
the small number of affected bottles contain a naturally occurring bacterium (found in soil and water) called Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacterium, which is typically not harmful to healthy individuals. however, it might pose a risk to individuals with compromised immune systems. in rare instances, these immune-compromised individuals may, when infected with this bacterium, experience serious health issues if not treated."

Crazy. I like this soap and have bought it before. Not currently though. Thanks for the headsup.

@Mindy D your cut and paste - what was the source? its a bit sugar coated. they are saying pseudomonas only affects those with compromised immune systems. i would be a bit judicious with posting such information.
My mother was NOT immunocompromised yet acquired PSEUDOMONAS in a hospital post 2nd THR. She had completed a successful pre-op. She had NO compromised immune system
Her first THR went well
She had to be in IV antibiotics for over a month and was very ill. Her immune system is now compromised.
wiki
Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a common encapsulated, Gram-negative, rod-shaped bacterium that can cause disease in plants and animals, including humans. A species of considerable medical importance, P. aeruginosa is a multidrug resistant pathogen recognized for its ubiquity, its intrinsically advanced antibiotic resistance mechanisms, and its association with serious illnesses – hospital-acquired infections such as ventilator-associated pneumonia and various sepsis syndromes.
The organism is considered opportunistic insofar as serious infection often occurs during existing diseases or conditions – most notably cystic fibrosis and traumatic burns. It generally affects the immunocompromised but can also infect the immunocompetent as in hot tub folliculitis. Treatment of P. aeruginosa infections can be difficult due to its natural resistance to antibiotics. When more advanced antibiotic drug regimens are needed adverse effects may result.

@CatsyCline @Pseudomonas can be serious, even deadly in the right circumstances. I am well aware of the potential for harm. My source is quoted directly from the press release from the company that makes Method soap. The source in the text box below my OP is the USDA. I'm surprised the FDA does not have more on this but it does not.

I wonder how it became contaminated? I’m not buying anymore of their hand soap.

Thank you for posting this. I've purchased the soap many times, but do not have this particular scent at the moment.
