Re: Question for those who had cataract surgery

Thank you SeaMaiden for the sweet post.  I slept fairly well.  I had to take half of a sleeping pill.  I'm seeing well but still have lots of floaters (due to the medicine he injects into the middle eye).  I will be glad when Sunday gets here and things clear up.  I think I am definitely seeing better than I did with the first eye.  I AM SO GLAD IT IS OVER!!  WOW the stress was just too much for me...that's just how I am.  Please don't worry, I think the 20/20 vision will last you for the rest of your life!!  Your eyes will be perfect!!  Isn't it a true blessing to have this at this point in our lives????  I'm so glad to have met you!  I'll talk to you in a couple of days!!  (((((HUGS)))))  Keep up the good work on your weight loss too!Heart

Re: Question for those who had cataract surgery

@highmaintenancejan  So glad to hear you are feeling better.

Guess where I am.  I am in Hospital with DH.   He is having  surgery in about a half hour for Abdominal aortic aneurysm with stents.   He should be going home tomorrow.  I will be glad when tomorrow gets here.  Will let you know how it goes.  Should go fine as we are in good hands. Great hospital.

Re: Question for those who had cataract surgery

WOW !!!  Did it rupture???  OMG...that is so dangerous and could have been fatal.  I'm praying for you all.  Just what you needed.  I hope it is not affecting your eye recovery.  Keep me posted.  Is there another thread?

@highmaintenancejan  His doctor caught it on his last physical...probably saved his life because the doctor did a very thorough “pat down”and  actually felt it....And ordered a cat scan to get a better view.    Then DH m went to see a vascular specialist...and had the option of the newer stent surgery over the more invasive open you up and spend 10 days in hospital.  He had his  stent surgery today....will come home at noon tomorrow..

every thing  went very well.   Rupture is the danger of not catching these aneurysms.  Men should have a sonogram at age 60 to check for this..but, it is not being done  on a regular basis.   Men should ask to have it done.  Women can get it as well.

have a wonderful night 🙂 keep me updated on your vision!

Re: Question for those who had cataract surgery

I'm a bit confused.  I met with the surgeon last week and my cataract surgery will be in early March.  He said no needles, no stitches, 10 minutes and you're done.  Now I see where so many of you have had needles and I wonder what the difference is.  I go for my measurement and consultation next week and I wonder how many different types of lenses are available.  Needless to say the ones that I have seen quoted at over $6,000 will not be an option for me.

No needles, no stitches....what I had was an injection into the eye (during the surgery while you are sedated) to help it heal quicker and lessen the need for the frequency of drops....Tri-Moxi...  I had laser surgery.  There are 3 implant options at my doctors office.  one for distance, one for monovision, and one for multifocal.  Your first visit is the measurement and then you meet the doctor and he tells you which lens option might be best for you.  It is a 10 minute painless procedure.  You will be there about 2 hours as it takes about 45 min. for them to dialate your eyes.  The recovery is about 6 days and then it's all good.  Good Luck!!

Thank you @highmaintenancejan that answered my questions. :-)  Thanks for the good luck too - I am already nervous and I still have a month before the procedure.  The doctor did say that I will get valium on arriving and then some kind of sedation during the procedure.  Right now we're juggling my DH's recovery from retinal surgery twice in the past 2 months and my eye appointments.  Here's hoping the rest of the year goes better, sure not a good way to start off, yikes.
