Re: Question for Anyone on Medicare Who's Had Knee Replacement

@patticakes   contact a senior center or SHIIP counselor, or hospital social worker (where you will be treated) and make an appointment to speak w/someone to help you figure this out.

Bring in any info you have if a Medicare Supplement plan or Medicare Advantage plan and Drug plan.

I shattered my knee cap and Medicare has been very generous as  far as physical therapy has gone.

Call Patient Business office at the hospital and ask them for an estimate of the hospital part of the bill and ask them what your out of pocket expenses will be based on your Medicare.  It will only be an estimate but it shouldn't be too far off.  Then call the surgeon's office and call the anesthesiologist's office and ask them for the estimated charges and an estimate of expected Medicare payment.  Again, it's only an estimate.

Not dealing with Medicare is foolishly expensive.  I've never had one problem with them, and I can't say that about my previous insurance company.  We do have a supplement from DH's old employer, I also paid nothing.

I have a Medicare Advantage Plan and paid absolutely nothing...not one penny.

That is amazing. Is your monthly premium amount very high?
