Re: Question About Sharp Pain Post TKR.

@Shiloh09

Because of the structure of her leg bones and knee and hip joints, my wife's R/TKR was more stubborn than most. Her surgeon has been our good friend for over 20+ years, and he told her upfront her Rehab would be more difficult than those closer to the norm.

About 5 weeks after her surgery she had the "manipulation" procedure done. Like surgery, it swelled and did increase her pain level for a couple days. Overall it was what she needed to be able to increase her chances of reaching 110-120° bend of her knee. For her, it was the difference maker, and a necessary procedure.

When she has her Left TKR it will probably be the same, or similar. Right now she is not at all interested in any discussion of that topic, and I can't blame her!

@CrazyKittyLvr2   I have had occasional twinges in the back of my knee but not in the front. I would suggest if it continues to contact your doctor. Good luck to you.

I agree with this likely being nerve regeneration pain. I had sensations that literally took my breath away.

@RedTop  Takes your breath away is an understatement.  The first time I put my foot down and felt that jolt of pain, well, let's just say my Mother would have grounded me for a week for what came out of my mouth. lol

@CrazyKittyLvr2

Yes, I can truly relate to the language.   Sometimes the pains brought tears to my eyes as well.   While the pains were sharp and quick, the burn sensation with the nerves was even worse, as it didn’t go away as fast.
