Mine has a gingersnap pecan crust.  I'm not leaving that on the plate.

Nobody in my family has any food allergies or dietary restrictions at present. Me and my sibling fight when one of us takes a major portion of the filling and our mom then obviously frowns. But this is good to know, I now have reason to continue hogging on more of the filling. Smiley Very HappySmiley Tongue

Pumpkin Pie. Save a bunch of calories and just don’t eat

[ Edited ]

It’s smart to be aware of nutrition, even on a holiday but....

if one begins to be calorie conscious juuuuust as the meal

is ending, it’s way too late.

That is so funny!  I am making one tonight for tomorrow's dinner and I had planned to just eat the filling since I don't eat grains anymore.  Good to know!

My sons' brought me a small piece of pumpkin pie..having diabetes,....I didn't eat the crust. It didn't matter...my bood sugar was 154 this morning!!!...it has sugar and my body hasn't had any sweetener except stevia for years...what a let down..!Woman Frustrated

Hi @emmysmom. I'm the same way. Desserts mess up my good control. I don't eat desserts of any kind anymore. Simply not worth the aftermath of high blood sugars. Funny, I don't miss them anymore. I think of them like smoking. Just as lethal for some diabetics.

I'll take the crust and leave the filling.  So give me crust please with a small (BIG!) dab of whipped cream!  I would never waste calories on pumpkin pie when there are chocolate, coconut cream, butterscotch, apple, cherry, buttermilk, black bottom, and boston cream (yes I know) pies out there to eat!

Pumpkin?  No way!!!!!  Woman Frustrated

Yes, the calories are in the crust but I don't think about any of that on Thanksgiving.  It's the furthest thing from my mind.  I eat what I want and enjoy my day.

I'm not a calorie counter, but I do eat a healthy diet most of the time.

So I just don't worry about what I eat on Thanksgiving.  Have what I want and maybe a second meal of leftovers.

No harm, no foul.
