Do you get flares with itching in cold weather?  If so, how do you treat it?

Re: Psoriasis Sufferers: Winter

Gold Bond unscented is my best friend.  They make one for psoriasis that really helps me.  Otherwise, I use their unscented lotion and cream all the time.  I love the heavier cream in the cold weather.  And both soak in so I don't feel greasy all the time.

For my face... my dermatologist told me to use oil-free moisturizer.  I'm in my 60s so use one for my age group.  Oils in moisturizers can make rosacea worse too.

I've posted this before - Mary Kay Extra Emollient Night Cream (the pink stuff).  It is amazing and healing.  Me and my granddaughter swear by it (and her other grandpa).

Jsut a tip . You can mix  50/50 glycerin and witch hazel [non-alcohol]  thayers brand  in a spray bottle and shake . spray on affected areas and rub in , use as needed

You can also use epsom salts in a spray bottle , Fill bottle 1/3 full with epsom salts and fill the rest with warm water to dossolve  and give it a shake.Spray on affected areas and let dry , It may leave a small powdery residue as it drys ad may feel a bit drying , Brrush off and put on moisturizer. cetaphil  ,cerave or vanicream , For very itchy spots I use waxelene. I use dr. bronners or dr woods soap[my favorite. ]

I use Beekman 1802 soap and it is not drying at all.  I wish I had it years ago because it is fantastic on my skin.  I also use Josie Maran body cream and it really keeps my break-outs moisturized.  Good luck finding something that helps.  It seems to be trial and error for everyone until you get lucky one day.

DH has psoriasis.  GOLD BOND is what he uses as well.  L'Occitaine works well on his hands.

His worse enemy is stress....which he brings upon himself.

Re: Psoriasis Sufferers: Winter

So many good suggestions.  I have written them all down.  I did buy the Gold Bond unscented as I have asthma also.  I will work with these until I find what works for me.  I used the Gold Bond two nights:  one night it worked great and the next not so much.  Not sure why that is but I will use it again, as that one night was glorious.

My latest favorite is the Curel Anti-Itch Formula. seems to calm everything down and lasts a long time, I feel I don't have to re-apply all the time.

The other thing I do in winter is when my skin is damp in the shower I use Johnson's Baby Oil GEL rubbed into damp skin, drop by drop. Work it in slowly and bit by bit so you don't get greasy. I never have a flake using these products.
