I did not want to hijack Frosted's thread, hence this one.
There are so many types of lenses for progressives! I know that I am interested in the hi-index, but even these are digital, comfort, corridors, etc. These will be my first pair of progressive lens glasses, so I am kind of at a loss.
I plan on ordering the glasses and lenses online because my eye doctor doesn't carry the frames I want.

Not sure how you can order progressive lenses on-line. They still require measuring for proper placement of the focal points.
ETA - I've been wearing progressive for at least 20 years. Early on I found out that getting the right placement of the focal point is critical to a good experience. The first pair I got were a NIGHTMARE. They were so bad I went back and got them replaced with good old bi-focals. I went to a different optical shop for the next pair and the technician took lots of time measuring and wow, what a difference it made.

Agreed that measurement is of PARAMOUNT importance with Progressives, and must be measured wearing the frames.
I would suggest ordering the frames and taking them to her doctor, or ordering the frames and taking her Rx to an independent lab and have them measure and make. But many optometrists and ophthalmologists are not very cooperative with this, even though legally they should be, because they want you to spend it all through them.

Thanks ladies! I will have a physical fitting.
Any thoughts on the lenses?

Hey coming over from the other thread.
Part of getting the ProgLens (abbreviating) to work is that the lens is the right shape, it can't be too big/small.
so ordering it then expecting to "retrofit" the lens might not be the best idea the first time. Part of the cost also also accounts for your RX too. Mine gets expensive as I am a -5 with astigmatism in one eye.
As for the lens, from what I remember from when I picked them out there are different grades, I got 2 different levels and didn't experience a huge difference in vision between the 2. As I said in the other thread 1 I got at Coscto
costco glasses read b4 it gets deleted
Just some of my thoughts , Hope it helps.
I would just go and get a quote from your Optician, check out Costco or alternatives.

I've had Crizal lenses and the Nikon Eyes lenses. I've found the Nikon Eyes were as good as the Crizal for a lot less. Walmart carries the Nikon Eyes and I've also found their selection of frames is good and well priced so you might want to check them out too before ordering something on-line.
I have a hard to fit face, with a high bridge. So many frames that I see and love just don't sit right and the bottom edge of the frame is sitting right in my line of vision....grrrr.

I'm not even sure of the name of the progressive lens I wear daily in my glasses and my suns. I've worn progressives in both for almost as long as they've been available.
I do know quality matters and I found out because of a very expensive mistake I made. I had gone to renew my driver's license in Florida and while all my paper work was in order, I couldn't pass the vision test! Was I ever sur[prised!
Anyway I had reservations to head to NY a few weeks later. so my choice was either to find a local provider or head to NY and try to renew that license long distance. I found help and we were able to get me new progressives in time for me to make my train. (No one does lens for my eyes in a day let alone an hour - they have to be ordered from afar!) So, new lens and I was thrilled becasue they were about $200 less than I usually pay.
That was May. In Ocotber, I carelessly swept those glasses onto the floor and not realizing I had, stepped on them! Now I needed a new lens, but I was in NY. My local optician called Florida and we learned the $350 lens they'd found for me was no longer available, so I had to buy 2 new lens- $550!
The only good part of this story is that the new lens gives me far better vision that that $350 lens did! Buying online may work, but I'm just not heading that way as long as I can find a good local provider. I'll save my money elsewhere - jewelry, clothes, eating out ---anywhere but on my vision.

@HonnyBrown You can buy your frames anywhere and have the lenses made locally. You don't have to use the same place for both.

I'm just glad that "larger" frames are back in style. It's pretty hard to fit a progressive into those narrow little frames. I found myself "looking" for the "right spot"...................

ITA! For a while there it was pretty difficult to find suitable frames.
