Hi,

Just wondering if any of you have tried Progesterone cream for symptoms of perimenopause- for me specifically , anxiety, migraines.

I have read such good things about the cream to help with hot flashes and night sweats, mood.

Any experience out there?

Thanks!

Yes, incredible success using Emerita's Progest (recommended by my doctor as safe, standardized, and effective) to quash perimenopausal-related migraines. Has been amazing. Just 1/8 teaspoon rubbed into skin twice a day has worked for me. I buy Progest at Whole Foods. (FYI .. my doctor told me that many of the OTC progesterone creams and faux creams made from yams are not standardized/tested as Progest is, so she instructed me to use that brand only.)

Good to hear, AspenGrove. Progest is the brand I bought. Thanks so much for replying. Glad you've had great results. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

julies, one more thing, also recommended by my doc, that I've had tremendous success with is acupuncture. Treatments basically calm, or keep hormones on even keel. Great stuff!

That's good to know about the acupuncture.

Thank you again, AspenGrove!

I think I recommend this otc treatment even though I did not have a good experience. Many I know however, have had a good experience. I used a cream for a very short period of time due to many symptoms of discomfort relating to perimenopause. This short period of use did coincide with a better feeling me until I had the most heavy cycle I have ever had. I hadn't had a period for four months. This 'flooding' has not happened since. Coincidence? Perhaps, sure. But maybe not. There would be no definitive answers to my experience.

I was so relieved to have found relief for anxiety, sleep disturbance, persistent headaches, moodiness, irritability and all over feeling poorly which is why I feel comfortable in recommending this form of treatment. Although in the end, I didn't feel this was for me for reason listed above. Also, I have not had any experience with hot flashes as yet, and hope not to, so flashing would not be part of my symptoms that saw relief while using said cream.

I am still going through this part of life without use of specific medicinal treatment( I do use Aleve and Excedrin), and it is easier I am happy to report. Taking particularly good care of my overall health has been helpful I believe. Hoping I need no further assistance. Finding your solution is not always quick nor easy and I think some need professional intervention. While not earth shattering or new... eat properly, drink plenty of water(this is very critical regarding anxiety by the way), exercise and afford yourself as much relaxation as you can.

Much luck to you.

Sebastian, your flooding that time could have been because the internal build up of the lining over time and your body finally getting a good "signal" to have a full cycle, etc. this is an over-simplified explanation, but since the monthly build up of the uterine lining may not have been getting fully expelled each month thanks to the peri menopause issues, perhaps the progesterone cream provided just enough of a hormonal kick to get a full cycle going again? Based on your tale, I think I might try the cream myself. I seem to be in peri myself, with spotty and irregular flows, etc. I used to have very heavy cycles, so I worry that this spotty and irregular stuff cannot be good for me. Of course, I am also assuming that I am still producing the same thickness of lining at the moment. That may not be the case. However, the cramps have gotten worse, so something is going on.

I'm post-menopausal. I use Smoky Mountain Naturals Paraben-Free Estriol Cream & Progesterone Cream. (My doctor approves) The combination of the two eliminated my hot flashes - finally!

The Estriol Cream (a tiny bit of the 1/4 t daily dose) applied to my face has really brightened my complexion. This is an unexpected bonus!

Amazon has many, many rave reviews on these products & I highly recommend anyone interested spend some time reading them.

This is the second time recently that I have read about someone using the Smoky Mountain Naturals creams. I think I will look into those too.
