Re: Prescription Recommendation

You could ask for a prescription strength antihistamine for backup when the OTC stuff doesn't kick in fast enough.

You could check with a clinic or doctor - maybe some sort of B12 or other "vitamin" type booster. Just be careful.  I know lots of people in my area who get B12 injections when they are feeling tired and run down but are otherwise healthy. Or you could ask for a prescription allergy medicine since you are taking OTC allergy pills already.

Awesome, Kat, thank you!!!!!

Why do you need to be careful with vitamin shots?

Have your Vitamin D level checked.  If it's low enough like mine was, my doctor gave me a prescription for a 5000 I think it was daily dose which was about $5-7 a month.

Laura, thank you!  My Vitamin D levels drop in the winter months when I don't get as much sun exposure.  Great suggestion!

Re: Prescription Recommendation

You're going to make a doctor's appointment......spend your time in the waiting room.....go back to the pharmacy to fill a prescription your doctor didn't already think you needed.....for $25!!!!!!!!!!!  Seems crazy..........

Thanks Red Top!  You are correct; twice a year my Claritan isn't enough.  I take 2 or 3 OTC pills on top of it to treat the additional symptoms.  I could get a prescription for one medication instead of juggling several from the drug store.

Thanks for that suggestion!

Have you ever heard of calling in a prescription request?

I have been seeing my doctor since I moved here.  She knows that I have allergies.  She knows that my Vitamin D levels drop in the winter.  Asking her to prescribe something like these useful suggestions would not be out of the ordinary.

At least not for me.

Re: Prescription Recommendation

I think posters are just curious as all Doctors are not the same. My Dr. would  not do it without seeing her unless she had previously treated me for said condition. You say your Dr. wouldn't have a problem with this. But how are we to know unless you tell us?

Re: Prescription Recommendation

@HonnyBrown, if you've been seeing this doctor for a while, and she knows your history, and you know you have allergies and a Vit D deficiency, then why would you even ask a forum for recommendations?  I think it's safe to say there are no doctors on the QVC forum.  In addition, doctors are now required by law to send prescriptions electronically to the pharmacy to prevent fraud and manual alteration of scripts.  In fact, the pharmacies in my area no longer accept call-ins.  I don't want to be argumentive, but really...

Jersey, I understand.

Two people claimed that I wanted a fake prescription, which I don't.  If I did, I would not need to ask here for suggestions.

Others actually helped with their suggestions of prescription vitamins and allergy medications.  My vitamin D levels drop in the winter when I don't exercise outside.  Allergies are an animal all on their own.
