@dex Seriously???? Subtract the wght of your shoes & purse???? Do they weight these too in order to see how much to subtract off?
There is NO nurse or dr who does this.

@Nightowlz Question for you - if you don't get on the scale at the dr's office (or refuse to) how do you know your home scale is only off by 1lb from the scale at the dr's office?
I KNOW my scale is right on because I do get on the scale at my dr's office regardless which office I'm at for any given exam. I'm happy to report my scale is exactly the same because I weigh myself a day prior to or the morning of.

@hoosieroriginal Exactly - after all, isn't this why we see our dr for an annual wellness?

@software Question for you - you say you pee in a cup. Is this at your physical/wellness exam? Does your Dr/nurse ask you to do this? May I ask why? Are they testin for something that particularly is necessary for you or a condition they watch?
If you don't care to let me know, that's fine. I'm just curious because I've never been asked to do this.

@GCR18 You got it Ms GCR, not much at all is sacred when you experience a traumatic health issue. And this is okay. Our Drs and Nurses are here to help us, give us sound advice and diagnoses for all that might ail us. If they want or need to check out something, I say have at it.
Been through a lot with my DH 5 yrs ago with his cancers. Luckily God-willing, not much to-do's with my health but I have no fear or problem with anything they want to test, check out, be sure they've ruled out whatever. Giving blood, getting preventive shots, no worries. Do what you (dr/nurse) need to do to make sure I am well.

@noodleann Interesting study, I just read it.

@MalteseMomma It baffles me why you or anyone would not see (their) Dr for an annual wellness/physical.
My mother would never see a Dr for anything either. Unfortunately very much later in her life we found out she had some very serious health issues - kidney failure just to name one issue.
If you have children who grow up and see their Dr(s) for wellness, gyno hlth issues for females, typical male issues, their Dr/Nurse will always ask about health concerns/issues in the family both sides, father & mother. It is imperative the children know of issues in parents, Gparents to know/understand what's in the family genes.
Whenever I discuss illnesses in my parents, mother especially, I am not only concerned for my own health but truly somewhat embarrassed because I cannot say because I do not know.
There was cancer in my family history just to name one serious issue that could have been passed onto me and my siblings that my father was always concerned about. It's very disconcerting not to know your family health history, let alone your own. It's certainly my opinion but I think you're doing a big disservice to yourself and your family/children again if you have any. And if you do not have children, I feel it's still no excuse. You're cheating yourself.

It's because of an ongoing chronic condition

@PINKdogWOOD Sorry you misunderstood I said I have done that before. I did not say I do it each time I have an appt. I did it once when I was not in the mood. I just told them I'm not doing that. LOL!!! They said OK.
DH tried to tell me our scale was not right. I told him it's only off 1 lb each time I see the doctor so it is right. He just does not like the reading he gets. LOL!!! It's the only way I can keep track of my weight. If mine goes up I quit eating or at least watch what I'm eating. I'm not gaining back the 60 lbs I have lost in the past 3 yrs.

Actually adoctor can tell quite a bit from a simple urine dipstick test. My doctor has all his patients bring in a urine sample when they go to get their blood work drawn.
