Recently diagnosed with a posterior fossa meningioma. Next week I'm seeing a specialist. I was told the lesion is very small. Anyone here had this diagnosis and what medical treatment did you have?

Marip,
I have a friend with a meningioma but not in that particular position. She had it surgically removed and is 100% fine. She has to go continually for checks but so far so good. Most meningioma's are very treatable.
Wish you only the very best of health. Stay positive!

@marip I am glad they found it early when it was small. Please keep us up to date on how everything goes.

Very scary, but meningiomas are not usually cancerous and, depending upon their location, they can often be completely removed. My aunt had one. She had brain surgery in her 40s and lived a fit and happy life for another 50 years, dying of something unrelated. What symptoms did you have? How was it diagnosed? Good luck! Please tell us how things go! Sending hugs, care, concern and prayers your way!

The reason I had the MRI of the head done was because I had a severe dizziness spell. I'm not sure if the tumor caused it or not.
AuntMame Did your aunt have a biopsy done?

@marip, Thank goodness you are doing all the correct things, medically.
Re: a biopsy - A biopsy is a medical test commonly performed by a surgeon, interventional radiologist, or an interventional cardiologist involving extraction of sample cells or tissues for examination to determine the presence or extent of a disease. The tissue is generally examined under a microscope by a pathologist. wikipedia

No, she just had surgery. I don't think they did brain tumor biopsies back in those days.
