@SilleeMee  I recall when people got shots for it.  I guess that is a one-shot deal.  I had a friend get one because she was exposed to chicken pox and at the time was receiving chemo.

I read your responses last night and was hesitant to offer information in regards to Hidradenitis Supprativa and immunoglobulin. Below are two items for your consideration. The published clinical trial may be available through your physician. The book is written by a HS patient with pubmed citations.

@butterfly123 Thank you so much for the information.  I have suffered this "******" for so long.  I am somewhat better now but still have mini flares.  I used to have some dreadful flares.  Have had sometimes as many as 16 done at one surgical intervention.

It is an embarrassing disease.  You do not want to even see a doctor for it when the cysts/infected areas are in the most private parts of your body but you must do something.

I recommend reading the book I posted also. Some helpful information IMO. I understand your pain, beautiful friend. Scars on top of scars. I consider them to be beauty marks.

Thank you for sharing.  I am a Kindle reader but I never looked up any books concerning this topic. I really never knew people much talked about it.  I was always ashamed to talk about it with my co-workers.  I was afraid, since most of mine were located in the private area, they might think I had an STD.   However, I have had some under my arms that were very nasty and had to have part of a breast removed due to infection and probably not getting treatment in time.  I continued working (computer work which rubbed my arm against it) until it was so painful and large I could no longer bear it even with pain medicine that I had from the previous episode.

I did meet one lady in the dermatologist's office who told me her mother had sent her to her Ob-Gyn who told her she had them because she was not cleaning herself well.  She said she broke down in tears because she could not believe, that with the scrutiny she took to keep herself clean and free of these ugly things, that he would say that to her and she feared even going to a doctor at that point.  She was only 15 at the time he said that to her.  She said it caused her to fear doctors and she felt that her periods were the reason as the HS would flare during that time.  We were both on Acutane at the time.   I had to quit secondary to elevated liver enzymes.

I have low IGG —but only two parts are low. (IGG I and III, I think).

I begged an immunologist to rx immunoglobulin for me because of chronic sinus infections.

He wouldn’t do it b/c it was so expensive, and he told me that case studies had shown infusions to be not helpful (?) in cases like mine. Then he sent me to an extremely great specialist who operates on all types of malformations. 

He corrected my sinus problem surgically.

It is too bad that for years i held myself responsible for those sinus infections/migraines/fibromyalgia, etc., and every nagging insignificant medical problem known to mankind.

In retrospect, if I had been able to have better communication with my doctors, perhaps I would have stopped blaming myself.

Other people have worse maladies, that is for sure. I am grateful that mine were relatively mild.

Hopefully, I can help our DD stay as well as possible.💗
