I love coming here just for the tidbits I learn! Here are two things I never would have known about but for this board.
Have tried both - both work and are mainstays in my daily home health routine.
Please share if you have a tried and true tip!

For dry eyes, cleaning the eyelids daily is imperative. Baby shampoo is often recommended. I have found that micellar water on a cotton ball is superior.

So Delicious (or other brand) coconut milk -- two 8 oz glasses of it at either the first sign of a sore throat or diarrhea. The coconut milk works to alleviate both.
Kyolic garlic capsules - two a day to ward off colds. Four a day if you don't take them regularly (or stop taking them for a period of time, or simply forget to take them for a while) and actually get a cold of some kind. I find that even when I take every other supplement for a cold, if I have forgotten the to take the garlic capsules, I don't recover nearly as quickly. Back in the day, if I took a multivitamin regularly and two Kyolic capsules in the morning, I was impervious to whatever everyone around me was coughing and sneezing and nose-blowing in the office. It was pretty impressive.
This will probably get poofed soon, so copy and paste it for posterity's sake, if you are so inclined.

Growing up, Vicks was a cure-all.
If you have a sore throat, apply vicks to neck and wrap with a bandana.
If you have a stubborn splinter, apply vicks to a bandaid. Keep bandaid on over night. It draws the splinter up.
If you have a pimple that doesn't want to come to a head, apply vicks to draw it out.
Some other non-vicks things:
Hacking nagging cough, make some warm tea with honey and a shot of whiskey. We even had this as kids. Didn't like the taste, but it helped soothe cough and relax you so you could sleep.
Fels naptha (Not sure of correct spelling) for poison ivy.

- Bamboo silica powder for bone health
- Vicks Vape-O-Rub for toenails

How does the Vicks work for toenails? Does this help w/ fungus? My spouse suffers from this and nothing seems to help.
Thanks,

A daily serving of chia seed pudding, to keep things moving along. Very easy to make.
The basic recipe is:
1/2 cup unsweetened Almond milk (any preferred milk would likely be fine, but you'd have to test it)
2 Tablespoons chia seeds
Mix together and let it sit to thicken. I make a bunch in advance and have several ready in the fridge. Using a stick blender or mixer is best. Add a few berries to the finished product if you like.
The basic recipe is rather bland so I like to add a little sweetener and vanilla extract. You can experiment with other flavorings and spices - almond, banana, pumpkin spice mix, cinnamon, etc.

@kate2357 you have to apply the Vicks to clean toenails every morning and night. The fungus dosn't go away magically, you have to wait for the length of the toenails to grow out. But as they grow you will start seeing healthy nail beds emerging - if you are diligent. Keep them trimmed, cleaned, and Vicks'ed - and be patient.
I think YMMV depending on how bad the fungus is.

For pesky lower back pain (sciatica).....put two cooler ice blocks (6 inches or so long) in the freezer until frozen solid. When your back acts up, wrap and roll them end to end in a towel or all cotton tub mat. Put in back of you by your waist as you sit to watch TV or read.
Easy way to apply cold for aching and reduce swelling. Nice in the summer. But I use them in the winter too if I've irritated those muscles.
Also, never "crab walk" as you pick things up. Always stoop straight down and stand straight up to move onto the next pick up.
These tips seem silly but the two have saved my lower back.
