sidsmom, I enjoy reading the stories you post. I am not on a Plant Based Diet but I am wanting to go that route.

You are more than welcomed!
I could post hundreds of success stories every day!
The transformation can happen very quickly.
We have several ‘leafies’ (ie Plant Based poster’s) here in the forum
so when you’re ready, we’ll support ‘ya!
Is there a particular roadblock you’re having? Anything I could research
or maybe post a success story regarding your roadblock?
(hope that makes sense! 💛🌼)

I guess on how to get started cause I wanna succeed. I'm willing to do this life style change. I had cut a lot of meat out of my diet recently and was only eating fish. So now I'm ready to go all the way. I like simple cause I have never been a big cook. (LOL) I already love veggies & fruit.

Wow...if you’ve cut out almost all meat, like veggies & fruit
AND like it simple? You’re almost there!
First though....you need to do a little pinch of homework.
1. Figure out your ‘why’. That’s the motivation to have when you’re
staring at a Krispy Kreme donut or some animal/dairy/oil dish
during your transitional period!
2. Watch a couple films about this lifestyle.
Forks Over Knives is the Gold Standard of Plant-Based documentaries.
What The Health is another good film.
3. Read Starch Solution by Dr. John McDougall
Out of all the Plant Based doctors, his books/website/webinars/education
is the most comprehensive out there...hands down. His program is
completely free...nothing to buy, nothing to sign up for. Just free
for the taking on his main website (drmcdougall(dot)com.
He will explain the REASON behind why we don’t eat meat, dairy,
eggs, oil. He will explain the reason why this lifestyle is good for
health/environment. He will also explain (the most important part)
why it must be low in fat (10-15% of total calories) to get the
best results. Funny thing...out of success stories I posted above,
most have started & succeeded with the McDougall Program.
After that homework, read this summmary 👇👇.
There are many, many resources out there...and I have a lot of them!
A Cliff Notes version is....
- eat lots of starch (potatoes, rice, corn, etc) &
- keep it low-fat 10-15% fat.
Magic happens when you attain that! Good luck!

sidsmom, Thank you very much for the info. I'm gonna check out Dr. john McDougall. I'll get my grocery list together over the weekend and go shopping Monday. I know I'll feel a whole lot better mentally & physically once I start this. Glad to know I can still eat potatoes. I need to clean my cabinets out of things that I can have. Out of sight out of mind. (LOL)

Love the spud! Eat your taters...but not butter/oil/sprays/fat)
A McDougall FB group I’m in, one of the Moderators coaches many
who need to lose weight. She says, “Potatoes Eat Fat!!!”
And it’s true!
Weight loss is quick w/ potatoes.

I ordered the Starch Solution book. I'm not on FB but I see Dr McDougall has some You tube videos I can watch.

Thank you for stressing the “whole” food aspect of eating. That is probably my biggest weakness. I do great eating as close to what Mother Nature produces as possible. Years ago I also ended up with Leaky Gut, which was scoffed at by most doctors at that time. I had to do my own research and in essence “cured” myself by changing my diet drastically. However, I do think that like you suspect of yourself, I have gut damage that may never by completely healed. I also think there may be a hereditary factor involved, as many in my family have varying degrees of gut problems.
I think much of people’s eating problems today come from getting away from eating “real” food, which, when I was growing up, was almost all we had! I look at some of the ingredients in so-called “healthy” food, and I know I would be sick if I tried to eat it. I buy very little packaged food, with the exception of things like dried beans and raw nuts.
Also, I am one of those people that you mentioned has a problem even with whole grains. And while bread doesn’t cause me distress, it does cause me to crave it and subsequently sweets, so I avoid it. I do think so many of the additives in even various healthy foods nowadays spark reactions in people. Even when I choose to “cheat” as a treat, if I have a few cookies with only real wheat, butter, sugar and salt, I am fine. If I eat a “health food” bar with bunches of additives and fake food, my gut does somersaults!
🙂
