I just saw this "Cowboy Caviar" recipe that looks good.

Thanks, @lolakimono, for posting!

There's a lot of nutritional misunderstanding out there.

Just for the fact plant based proteins are so much cheaper,

this should be interest for everyone!  Thanks, again.

I am a plant-based eater.  I eat some flax seed, but get most of my protein through greens.  XOXO

I am so excited, I can't stand it!

Let me explain: DS is buying his first house and I wanted to get him something unusual....he and my DIL-who really isn't-but yet she is, love to cook....and they adore mushrooms....

So I thought out of the blue, why not get him a mushroom growing kit.... I hopped over to Amazon and found a couple: I ordered two oyster mushroom kits: apparently, the oyster varieties are really easy to grow with a high success rate.

Nutritionally, mushrooms pack a punch-but I had no idea how much protein they have!

Can you imagine growing prized truffles in your backyard? ...or Morels???

Some varieties can only be grown outdoors and four distinct seasons are needed-but it's so easy-and incredibly delicious?

Skids, I'm so excited- non-dairy yogurt and cheese making....mushroom cultivation.... I wish I liked wheat grass: alas, it's one of the very few greens I like....but I need to start sprouting.

Fun, fun, fun!Smiley Happy

Sorry-that should have been "Sids" : using my old Kindle is a bad habit, and it inserts its own spelling....time to switch to iPad!

@Poodlepet2

I've swam through the sprouting phase! Made my own Rejuvalac....basically sprouted wheat water...lots of probiotics.

Your mushroom making sounds fun!

@lolakimono posted a mushroom thread over in the Kitchen section...about 1/2 way down the page...I bet they would love to hear about your recent purchase!

I used to make tofu tacos a lot.  They were just as good as beef tacos (better, IMO), but I had to use a little extra taco seasoning.  So using seasoning packets I would use 1 and 1/3 packets of seasoning.

I need to get taco fixins next time I go to the grocery store!!

I never craved to make *meat like* meals (i.e. veggie burgers, faux chicken, etc.

But some things do happen to turn out that way.

I add quinoa to spaghetti sauce and it's like a meat sauce.  I'm not trying to make it like that, just how it turns out.

Tonight I had a simple lentil soup with portabella chunks, maitake slices and shredded oyster mushrooms.  It was so hearty.
