It's unfortunate the industries are dictating the other 80+%.
Plants are so cheap...it would be such a budget saving venture
but there's not much $$$ in broccoli, so...๐คทโโ๏ธ

I am new to Whole Foods plant-based cooking. The best website I have found is the whole foods plant-based cooking show. She shows videos of how to cook, has recipes and she is very kind and methodical I am so glad I found this blog. Havenโt posted in a long time, but been a member along time
I love Jill!
Yeah, there are so many good resources out there to help
transition to the WFPB lifestyle. I found her through her
YouTube channel. Hope to hear more from you as you continue
on your new nutritional lifestyle! Congrats๐๐ฟ

sidsmom, I have had people ask what I'm doing to lose weight. And I'll say eating plant based. A lot say, "Oh your vegetarian or you eat turtle and rabbit food." So I try to explain to them what plant based is. And how I felt health wise before I started and how I feel now. I don't get why some people crack jokes about it when people eat different from them. But the sad thing I find about it is some of these people are 100 to 200 lbs over weight. Some are on insulin or high blood pressure medication. (or both) Then I think about a post someone posted a few days ago about if people like change or things to stay the same. I wonder if some people just like things to stay the same. I'm sure a lot of them need to be educated on a healthier life style. I'm happy with myself and my life and I will continue to do what keeps me that way.

It's cool people are noticing!
Sometimes the best answer is being a good example.
And you're right there in the sweet spot where people are asking.
Yay You...congrats!
Musings
'Vegetarian'
It's funny....you don't hear that word being used much these days.
Of course, vegans don't drink/eat dairy...and even the hard-core
Keto/Paleo/LowCarby people will avoid dairy because of the
naturally occurring-hormones & carbs. To me? Having someone
say 'vegetarian' is a telltale sign they are neck-deep into the SAD
way of eating. Translation: High Carbs AND High Fat which is
a Metobolic nightmare.
You're right...it is sad to see someone so ill with diabetes & heart disease
when the answer to prevent/reverse that condition is so easy to adopt.
And especially when you're sitting right there showing how it's done.
And that ties in to the change/stay the same situation.
Many people I know through my PB groups, who have been successful
with weight loss & disease/illness reversal...the major of them will say
when they were sicker, they identified with their illness...and to take a step
further, I asked my friend Karla, who was diabetic & lost 200lb. She said
she WAS beginning to identify with that condition who has community boards, recipe groups, etc...they have a real since of community...
and thatโs when she decided that was kinda crazy...to consider an
illness a social group. Itโs horribly sad but I see it all.the.time.
She didnโt want that so she changed. Being in those groups just
makes being sick socially acceptable...figuratively AND literally.
They have no pressure to change when everything & everyone
around them believe having these conditions is....ok. It's not.
If you want to kinda educate & answer questions at the same time,
I've seen some print up little business cards with a PB food pyramid
on one side & a PB website (Dr. John McDougall Starch Solution
website, as an example) on the other side. Maybe that would
plant a seed.
It's wonderful you have found something to make you truly happy!
Love your spirit!๐ผ๐

I realize this is N=1 (study of 1), but a kidney doctor saying
a plant based diet is a good thing? That's an amazing endorsement.
He sees the day in/day out results of low carb/high fat/high protein
diets. Is your doctor on board?

It's beginning to be that time of year when dinners are
mixed plant/non-plant...and you might have to explain yourself
or hear the many common excuses for the 100th time.
I saw this meme & began to giggle.
Even in our small biosphere of this forum, I've seen all these.
And so many more.
