@Kachina624 Just want to say that a few years ago I was prescribed amlodapine, 1.5 pills daily. I found the perfect pill cutter on Amazon which is perfect for splitting the little bitty pills! Would be glad to post the item info if needed.

A pill cutter is a great idea! They make it much easier to split pills evenly. Look for one that has a good rating and a built-in holder to keep the pill steady while you cut. They’re usually inexpensive and available at most pharmacies. Hope that helps, and I hope the new prescription works well for you!

@Kachina624 - I also bought one on Amazon, when my vet prescribed a tiny pill for one of my cats.  The pills were fairly soft, but needed to be split in two.

She showed me the Equidose Pill Cutter on Amazon.  It worked very well and my DH uses it for his own pills, too.  I just looked and it's $17.95.  Might seem expensive, but it's so much easier than other types we've tried.

I use a pill cutter every day for pet medications.  I recommend a cutter that has a wheel you turn for various sizes of pills.  I agree, some pills cut easier than others and some pills are manufactured so you can just break with your fingers.

I cut my NP Thyroid pills in half. They are not always exactly half. I figure it doesn't matter. I consume all those pills I cut in half each week. I may get a little more or less one day to the next.

The lid is loose on mine so I have to move lid over to get it to cut more in the center. If I don't do that I do end up with one half larger.

I thought if pills have the score line you can cut in half. If they don't have the score line I didn't think you were supposed to cut those?

@Love my grandkids  Coincidentally, one of the pills I struggled with was Amlodapine,  trying to split a 5mg to make a 2.5mg so I could take 7.5mg daily.  I discovered my doctor could order a separate script for 2.5mg pills so that solved the problem.

@Kachina624 - Amlodapine is the pill that the vet prescribed for our cat!  The human pill was so much cheaper than the animal pill, that she told us to get it filled at Walmart and split it!  That's when she told me about the Equidose.

@Venezia.  Those pills are brittle and tend to crumble into bits and pieces when cut.  I wasted many of them.
