Perio Sticks - Dental hygienist recommendation

I just had my appointment for teeth cleaning. The hygienist said perio sticks are good for fighting plaque along with brushing and flossing. They are basically flat, wooden toothpicks, tapered on each end and shaped to slide between the teeth. I never heard of them before.

 

Now, this is what I found most interesting - she said that wood absorbs bacteria. And perio sticks can be used to scrape and remove bacteria along the gum line. Of course they are also good for cleaning between the teeth too.

Dh’s  endodontist recommended toothpicks years ago.

That and quarterly visits for deep cleanings have saved his teeth from gum disease.
