@Teddie Thank you for your kind words. He has been gone for 13 years now. He was almost two years (23 months) younger than I.

@Abrowneyegirl That is a really bad experience. What is also really scary is "see you in 3 years." All health insurance covers a yearly physical with no deductible (the law requires it), and doctors see patients at least once a year.
So yes I would be looking for a different doctor.
It was a specialist who also performs procedures and surgery.
It was not a run-of-the-mill PCP visit. She has a medical history and family medical history that needs to be monitored.

Please be aware that not all health insurance covers a yearly physical. Medicare does not, for example.
Check your benefits before you have services.

That's what I've been saying to people for many years. Do not take a doctor's word for anything.
Look at your results yourself instead of having someone else tell you your results. Research what you are told. Research all medications you are prescribed. And question everything. Get second, third, and fourth opinions if need be.
Yet, I belong to a couple of health forums and too many people hang on their doctor's every word and pop every medication they are prescribed without question.

That is one reason why I do not sign up for patient portals. I tell them, if you need to inform me of something, you have to call me. If I don't hear from them, say for blood work or something, I call them...just in case.

But if the OP's friend hadn't signed into her patient portal she never would have known that there was something wrong - they never read the full report.
