Definitely go the over-the-counter route if it will save you money.

You can buy Pepsid over the counter. Just take the dose the doctor would prescribe as a prescription. Ask your doctor and pharmacist about this. Prilosec has some recent brouhaha over possible kidney problems.

I take generic Pepcid and it is covered by my insurance (Cigna)...40 mg.

Cost me under $10 for 30.

Sam's club, Costco or Amazon might have the generic version cheaper.

Just a thought🙂

my dr wants me to try Pepcid 40 mg twice a day to get off of Prilosec. My insurance won't cover it. The price would be $800 for 3 months supply without insurance. Would I be able to buy 20mg off  the shelf and take 2 twice a day. Just wondering if anybody ever did this.
