I get pedicures every 5 weeks year round in order to keep my feet in good shape.  I stopped getting polish nearly 2 years ago.

My husband gets his toenails cut at the VA; if his nails get long before his next appt, I file them with a JPACO 180/240 emery board ordered from Wal-Mart.  I will not cut his toenails, or mine, with clippers.

I try to get pedis every month--for some reason I have ingrown toenails on my big toes now--never did before---and need that taken care of. I could never manage to fix those on my own.

I've never had a pedicure in my 62 years. I am seeing a podiatrist for ingrown toenails on both big toes. And to treat some fungus.  He took care of the ingrown toenails.  Thankfully Ican still clip mine but it's a challenge with the nail fungus.  It's a work in progress!   I've always been self conscious of my feet.

@gloriajean I don't know if you remember me but years ago I posted with you on your daily positive thread. We have talked on the phone as well.  I'm so happy to see you are still here! And hope you, your DH and daughters are doing well.

2 sisters!!!!  Yes, Of course I remember you.  It would be nice to keep in touch, somehow someway.  Somehow we lost track, I don't know how anymore.  Gosh! it's been years!!  Are you still on Facebook?

Nice seeing you here!  The pedicures are with my daughter,so it's nice getting them done together, and they do such a good job of it.  My youngest daughter is a Hospice Nurse now, she used to be a Massage Therapist owning her own business but always wanted to be a nurse.  She just lives 2 miles from us.  Older daughter is taking a year off school, she's a professor at the college here, but she has 7 year old identical twin daughters that have Autism, and need lots of care.

Never had one in my life. I've always done my own foot grooming as well as my own fingernails. I cut my own hair, too. I just don't like people touching me.

I do get pedicures but not as often . I do get my feet nails cut often and it saves money . It is not a pedicure , just ask for a nail trim . Don't be afraid to ask for the price . They all appreciate your business.

If you're not diabetic Medicare will still pay for pedicures at a podiatrist's office, but only every six months. That's what my mom's podiatrist told me.

If you're diabetic Medicare will pay for one a month.

That is not exactly true.  Medicare will not pay for routine foot care unless you have a medical condition.

Medicare does not pay for any pedicures at all, but will pay for toenail clipping and callus or corn removal with certain medical conditions only.

Advantage Medicare plans might cover more than Traditional Medicare.  Check your individual coverage.

Thank you for the clarification, Carmie!

Just a FYI. In case you are diabetic, you can get your toe nails cut at a podiatrist's office and your health insurance will pay for it.

That helps with the cost.

Im under the care of a podiatrist for the last year and because of a broken vertabrae in my back he will cut my toenails. He does a horribly ugly job of it but i have no other choice. I simply cannot afford pedicures. Fair warning lol.

I give my toes a nice long break from polish through the winter month. I have never had a professional pedicure. I'm turning 70 and have no problems reaching and doing my own. I never knew some can't reach their own toes?? Perhaps some exercises could loosen up those stiff muscles.
