I would investigate a gym membership. You'll get the benefits of every kind of exercise and won't worry about tiring of one piece of equipment.
I like small, private gyms better than the chains myself. The one I go to has never had more than 5 other people in it at one time (usually only 1 or 2), so I get quiet, privacy and much more attention from the staff.
You should at least try a gym for a couple months to see what kind of exercise you actually enjoy, rather than asking other people what they like.
For instance, yoga is an amazing practice for strength, flexibility, calmness, quality sleep, and many other health benefits. No machine required. We do it on the beach here.
At any age you want the expertise of certified trainers for a while too. Getting hurts stinks and can really set you back. NOT the way to get more active.
