It would be lovely if ALL the brands of these types of drugs were covered by all insurance for weight loss. But that means the drug companies would lose money on all the other drugs to combat health issues arising from being overweight. A generic would also be wonderful and would lower the cost. Not holding my breath though.

I have been on Mounjaro for Diabetes since September of 2022 and I never want to get off of it. Because of my diagnosis, I will never get off of it. I am not afraid of side effects. This drug class has been studied for years. I lost 85 pounds on it and I have not gained the weight back.

The drug companies are now conducting trials to study the other benefits, effects of these drugs. I think it is fantastic. Zepbound and Wegovy are approved for weight loss and more insurance companies are covering them now. Here is my experience.

Since I have been on Mounjaro, I lost 85 pounds. I cannot overeat because I stop eating when full. Before I could just keep eating. I don't crave food like I used to.

My A1C is now 5.2 which is a wonderful reading, I am off the blood pressure medication that I took for years. My CRP that measures inflammation went from 8 to 1. I went from high inflammation to intermediate inflammation. Hopefully next labs will be lower.

I feel so much better, I can do many things now, I have energy and not a lot of pain in my joints anymore. The side effects that I have had are nausea (especially when I first went on the med and constipation)

I hope more people benefit from these drugs. As far as effects go, with my weight so high, I was at very high risk for cardiovascular disease, stroke, cancer etc. I think the drug has helped me greatly.

I can see how it may help with addictive diseases. I can literally pass up my former favorite foods. The cravings are gone.

At DH's cardiology appointment last week, he was prescribed Jardiance.  When I said that' s a diabetes drug, the doctors said they're finding that it is an even better heart drug.

@conlt    So very happy for the success you have had and wish you nothing but healthy years ahead.  I have friends with similar stories and I am sure there will be millions more in the years ahead.

I have just one question,  if a person loses enough weight on any of these prescribed drugs to be at their desired healthy weight for their body - how do they manage to keep taking the drugs they need yet not lose more weight?

I have used Ozempic for several years for Diabetes and have not lost any weight. Not everyone does.

I belong to a women's rheumatoid arthritis support group.  More and more people who have been put on these drugs because of diabetes are finding their RA has gone into remission.

It's too late for me, unfortunately, having so much irreversible joint damage from my 30 years battling it.  But it's so good to learn future patients may have a better life than mine.  Maybe some day I'll be able to take it if they can ramp up production enough.

I have Also been on Synjardy (a combination of Jardiance and Metformin) since Sept 2022. My Endocrinologist prescribed both that and Mounjaro, even though my starting A1C was 6.3. I needed to lose the weight though because I was high risk for heart disease, death.

I hope more folks can benefit from the heart benefits of these drugs.

@minkbunny I am not sure, but my experience is after this long on the Mounjaro, I have hit a plateau. I would like to lose more weight and probably will, but it is coming off much slower now.

I have read that many cut the dose to stop losing the weight and just maintaining. Some skip the shot for a week. When there was a shortage, my doctor approved me going to an every 2 week shot.

I was out of the medication x 8 weeks this year and I did start to gain my appetite back.

@CHATTY   Same here...except I've only been on it about a year.  It's really helped my daily blood glucose readings and my HBA1C though.

I hadn't yet heard that about it helping those with RA.  That's wonderful to know!  I'm so sorry though that it can't be used to help you.  I also suffer with RA, so I can really sympathize with you.❤️❤️❤️
