My hygienist mentioned this today when I was having my teeth cleaned.  She said I can add it to my Waterpik twice a week if I didn't want to rinse.

I had to look this up. This is what I found:

I might try it in my waterpik.  If nothing else, it will keep my waterpik clean ;o)

It's 3/4 tsp to 1 cup (8 fluid ounces) of unscented bleach.

Wow....never heard of that before....not sure I will try it....I have very sensitive teeth.

@VaBelle35where did you find the bleach to water ratio, I didn't see that on the link. I'll be seeing my dentist next tuesday and I'll mention it to him.

My hygienist gave me that ratio.

In googling, you will see 2 tsp: 1 gallon of water and 2 tsp :1 cup water

It's all over the map.

The thing about diluted bleach used as a disinfectant is that it must be made fresh  on the day of use in order for it to be effective. Prolonged storage of diluted bleach solutions also lose their disinfecting ability when exposed to light.

Household bleach now comes in different strengths...around 5%, 6% and 8% NaOCl. So the recommended NIH calculation of a 0.25% solution can become a little tricky.

I think I will stick with using my fluoridated mouth rinse.

I would rather rinse with Act twice a day. I had an aunt who used baking soda for her teeth all her life. She had beautiful teeth. I guess it worked for her.
