I was reading that taking olive oil will help with keeping you regular. Wondering if anyone has any first hand knowledge of this? Thanks!

I am on the Almased shake plan. You have to add olive oil to the shake mixture.
It does help regularity.
Plus it is very good for you...inside and out.

I've never heard of the Almased shake plan, could you please tell me something about it ? I might like to try it. Thanks much.

Be aware that some oils will 'coat' the inside of your intestines and interfere with nutrient absorption. Most doctors recommend increased fluids, fiber, (if not contraindicated) and increased activity for occasional constipation. Chronic constipation can be a symptom of a more serious problem.

Calorie wise you are better off with Metamucil.

I can't take a lot of fiber, can't eat a lot of certain foods and have a terrible slow colon with diverticulitis and gastritis so I decided to try castor oil. Been reading a lot about it and nothing else works so I have been on it for three days. It has a list of things that it is good for, being constipated, inflammatory and lots of other relief. I will try anything once. I mix it with prune juice.
Miralax, magnesium, laxatives take forever to work on me so I am running out of ideas. If I had a normal colon these other items would work. TMI but castor oil may work for some.

It's a German company.
Amazon has a lot of great reviews and info on it.
The shakes are made of fermented yogurt, honey and protein. Hard core you have 3 shakes a day and veggie broth.
But I am doing two a day and a low carb dinner.
So far, no hunger, no "shaking", no dip in insulin levels. Diabetics can use this program too.

Oh my. I have the recipe:
1. Go to Walmart.
2. Buy bag of brown rice.
3. Buy bag of beans.
4. Cook both & eat until stuffed .
5. Sit & wait for magic to happen.
6. All that for less than $5
Processed oil is & never will be "good for you" no matter what kind of marketing team it has. If you want olive oil, eat some olives. Corn oil, eat some corn. Peanut oil, eat some peanuts. Eating 101.

I sometimes take a spoonful of olive oil to help with stomach rumbles (works great for this) and it does seem to promote softer stools. I don't do this on a regular basis however, so you might want to research the previous post about overuse and malabsorption. Definitely check with your doctor.

Try a probiotic, once or twice daily.
