My doc ordered totally unwarranted tests, so they were not covered by insurance. I called the office manger. She explained the doctor didn't make the decision: the woman who handled my getting set up in the room filled out the paper work before the doctor even saw my paperwork and examined me.
I told the office manager to get the lab charges taken care of or I would go to the Texas Medical Board. She kept repeating it wasn't the doctor's decision.
Good grief. Doctors are responsible for their staff. I chose a doctor I made sure was licensed, didn't have grievances, etc. If I wanted a nurses assistant to provide my medical care, why pay the doc?
I think doc's are better traioned, but are seeing "how low can we go" in hiring Y paying for support staff.
